Fellas,
Sorry for the repetative post, I am in need of help. Spent the weekend replacing the EGR and VSV valve. Pain in my ass i must say to do. However the bloody CEL is back with freekin code 71. Anyone have any ideas on what i could have missed. I did clean the pipes and replaces vaccum hoses that had slight cracks. I am at witts end with this. I may just take a sledger hammer to the freekin motor next.

All help will be appreciated.

Code 71, 1994 LC with 186K.
NEW EGR and VSV, also put in new plugs, throttle body gasket and EGR gasket.

HELP ME.

Replaced the EGR modulator valve? If not, it's easy to check if the diaphragm is bad by blowing or sucking through the vacuum nipple. That or recheck to see if all the vacuum lines are connected, connected properly, and don't have any blocked intake passages...

(my code 71 was a bad EGR modulator valve) Also, reconnected the EGR temp sensor plug?

Many thanks for your note. Yes it is a new EGR modulator. Have checked all vaccum lines. I guess next weekend will take off the throttle body and recheck the vaccum lines for blockage. Thanks for the input.

Check your air hose from the air cleaner to the throttle body. It is probably cracked and letting in un-metered air.

Yup surely was clogged. Used a can of carb cleaner and polished it up. Hence i am so out of ideas as to why this CEL is coming back.
