Mashed Potato is finally wheelable.:clap::clap::clap::clap::clap::clap::clap::clap::clap::clap::clap::clap::clap::clap:

Turned out to be the idiot behind the impact wrench, that'd be me. Seems I failed to tighten the pinion nut down enough but of course didn't figure that until we tore down the entire axle again. :(

For the record, I'm tired of turning wrenches for awhile.:deadhorse:

The equipment is kicking our butts, my issues have been with the trailer. I ordered the seals for wheel bearing service, got every thing cleaned up, replaced 2 bearings repacked the bearings installed the seals put all the drums on the axles then went to fill the hubs with grease gun and realized the grease was going into brakes ,pulled them appart and discovered the seal ID was oversize, ordered new more expensive seals locally two days later back together. Adjusted brakes and then pulled pin on brake away box, which had been on charge for 3 days, nothing battery is dead, ordered new one be here Tuesday.
Started to put tires on trailer and noticed the spring equalizer was sticking. On closer examination realized the bushings were gone and bolts were badly worn, took half a day to get them off bolts so rusted impact would not remove nuts so has to remove them with grinder. 4 new equalizer and bolts shipped yesterday from etrailer in MO, no expected delievery date yet.
Still have to put fenders, aux. fuel tank and rear lights on IH

I decided to check out my trailer....good thing I did. Noticed the cheap break-away kit the trailer guys used had seen better days and and decided to check out the battery..well good thing I did. One of the little terminals had broken clean off the battery so it was useless...guess I would have found out the hard way if the trailer came loose.... since what I had on the trailer was crap I ordered a new break-away kit from tekonsha http://www.amazon.com/Tekonsha-50-85-313-Shur-Set-Breakaway-Battery/dp/B004I9ZZOA . Lined up to do some brake work and steering gear swap next friday/saturday. If I get to my heater core it will be a plus...if not then I'm rolling regardless. Normally I get this stuff from etrailer....but amazon had it and I needed some other stuff from amazon. On etrailer this had good reviews along with one from hopkins.

Next weekend will be the steering swap, checking the brakes and general look at everything on the 60 to ensure no obvious issues. Will try to get my seats wired up too, but not sure is a good place for the fuse block I want to use from Blue Sea. I've debated putting it under or in the console (similar to tuffy). I'll figure something out..

well I expect everyone's junk will be in tiptop shape in the next few weeks then huh.

Shoulda walked it first. :/

At least someone is wheeling these days. We haven't been out since June.

Want to buy a 4 Runner that's ready to go ?

I'll even deliver to Roger's for ya .

umh, No! One piece of junk is already too much work. didn't i catch you were going to AOP this weekend?

YAY! Congrats. If I break anything in the axles on this trip, I know who I'm calling for help!

Do you have a solid pinion spacer in there? If you have a crush sleeve, you can't just tighten it down "enough".

No doubt! I still have to pull both my axles apart, but it isn't to "fix" anything per se, so not quite as annoying as what you've been doing.

As long as cone washer cooperate I'll bet we can tear down a front axle in 30-45 mins at this point, could probably do it blind folded.

I do have solid spacers in my 5.29 diffs but doubt the 4.10s I've installed do. Seeing as I have 1 week less prep time than the rest of you guys I'll have to re-gear the HP diff to 5.29 and install them after i get back it looks like at this point.

There is a legit argument for keeping 4.10s though in that replacement diffs are easy to find and cheap, just sayin.

I to am getting a bit tired of wrenching but the real aggravation is having a 62 ft trailer sticking out both ends of my 40 ft shop, every time I need something it is on the other side of the trailer.
Got the rear fenders mounted on little red today, will paint them tomorrow. Also fixed Air cond. leak in wagon and recharge it.

This looks a lot better now.

Going to pick up a couple sticks in the morning. I'll get started on it tomorrow. Hopefully be done before I leave for Colorado Friday. When I get back I want to rework the rear suspension and pull a leaf out of the front. It's way too tall now going from bald 37s to almost new 39s.

I'm waiting on new ring and pinion to come in. Waiting sucks

I've got two new sets of 5.29's sitting in my shop. :flipoff2:

Where'd you order from?

Some final prep questions since I've never been.

Aside from the usual expenses of food, gas and beer what other "fees" should I/we expect to have to budget for? Are there daily use fees depending the trails run or is there a one-time ORV use permit or what? Just trying to budget the amount of cash on hand.

Sounds like a fun trip. Woody and I and some fellow Colorado folks are meeting you guys in Moab.....If anyone has room on a trailer to bring me a RZR 4 seater to Moab, I will pay your fuel costs and some lunch money. Sounds like Nolen may be picking it up for us and will have it at his house. Call or Text me eightoneseventhreezerosevensixonefourone. Gary

Thanks for posting this Ted, I've been wondering the same thing.

Hells Revenge/Fins N Things will have the Sand Flats access fee...get the yearly pass (valuewise, if you run it 2-3 times, it's worth it). Pass is purchased at the entrance....$20-25 per vehicle, maybe? Can't recall anymore :) I have one and use it on multiple vehicles. Good for one year.

Most of the rest are open roads/trails, no permits required. AreaBFE is free but has a donation box. Pritchett Canyon has a per-day fee ($5ea maybe?).

Beer: VERY VERY important!! Buy this in CO or NV or anywheres NOT in UT. And Danny likes Coors Light, and prefers his from out of state too ;)

I "should" be in Thurs prior to anyone else arriving...Gary, Mark and I are going to UTV it for a few days and I'll stay for M-T to wheel as well.

When I was at Danny's the other night, he mentioned some big party coming in (25 people) one night while you guys were there...since you are guests, you can attend :) ProComp maybe? Can't remember, but some offroad corporate group.

The sushi place in Moab is impressive, BTW...and Sallie is a hilarious waitress :)

Thanks for the info guys and lemme go ahead and throw some ProComp stickers on my rig - haha. This is shaping up to be some kinda trip, to say I'm getting pumped is an understatement.

Woody thanks for info and setting us up at Grandpas
Jason and I plan to arrive Sunday afternoon, I have looked at the place on Google Earth and appears to be plenty of room to get the 4 car trailer in and turned around if there are not to many other rigs scattered about, remember the cluster in Black Hills, please let me know when you get there if we need to do any thing special like unloading out on Highway.
