I recently replaced the clutch master and slave cylinders on my '79 FJ40. Since then I have noticed that there is a little bit of grinding when I shift gears when the truck is cold. It seems to stop after it warms up to normal operating temperature.

Does this indicate that I don't have the slave cylinder adjusted right? If so, do I need to adjust it in (towards the body of the cylinder) or out (towards the clutch forks)? I'm thinking it is out...

I never noticed this before I replaced the units.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Adjust the acorn nut out(longer) until you have about 3mm of freeplay between it and the clutch fork.
Should be good, assuming it is fully bled.
