Prob 1: Recently noticed a strange clunking noise whenever I am at speed in 4th or 5th gear and I put the clutch in. I'm not sure how long it has been there as it is only really noticeable when I am in 5th or 4th gear and then only when it has a load.
Scenario: Driving about 100kmh in 5th gear, I put the clutch in and I get a clunk coming from somewhere in the bellhousing (fork?). If I release the clutch and depress it again, it still makes the same noise until I am going under about 90kmh. I get the same sound in 4th when i'm around 90kmh, but it is not as noticeable. I have not been able to get it to make the sound in any gear lower than 4th.
Prob 2: Two weeks ago I removed the transmission and replaced the clutch, release bearing etc... and didn't notice anything funny. Now I have a whirring noise from what I think is the release bearing not being seated correctly. It sounds like a volkswagon beetle is inside my bellhousing until I depress the clutch slightly. The clutch is still engaged, but the sound stops as long as there is a bit of tension on the clutch pedal. The clutch pedal height seems okay, as does the freeplay distance.
Does anybody have any suggestions as to what the causes may be? I'm pretty sure that prob 2 is either a bad release bearing or that it's not seated properly, but I have no idea what could be causing prob 1.
