Clutch cylinders NEW vs REBUILD

What is the general consensus on the low cost rebuild kits (is it only O-rings?) versus the high cost option of replacement for the master and slave? There's more than a few folks who say there's only 10 years life, either way.

If replacement, then OEM or aftermarket?

What source do you like for a rebuild kit?

Are you running the factory clutch master and slave cylinders or do you have some other setup to go with your 350?
 
If you have some honing stones and can hone out the cylinder you're doing what the reman folks are doing anyway ..... should last a nice long time. I would not, however, put a lot of faith into just swapping out seals and not cleaning up the cylinder walls.
 
I say new. Dozer's OE installed master died in like '97 - used a rebuild kit, and that lasted a few years. I went with a new replacement this time thinking the extra $50 was money well spent on a part that lasts almost 20 years. JMO.

Just to give closure to the thread, I ordered new OEM cylinders, soft line and copper washer. The old hard line fittings were boogered up so Al bent up a new one before I knew what what going on. Auto Zone had a line that was the right size with the right fittings and he thought bending it was a quicker route to success than cutting and reflaring the old line. Thanks to Sam for the loan of the bend and flare tools. I still need to practice on something before I return them Sunday!

The system bled easily and has held up in 3 days of rush hour stop and go. Success!
