Yep getting that booster out is not much fun:)
Here's a pic of old and new....
The old one had blown seal no.1 on the booster body.
Identical, phew!!

Today I installed the brake and clutch master. Used blue goo to make a gaskets. The clutch booster is in and fits "like a glove". All in all everything went smoothly. I had to put a rebuild kit through the clutch master. The bore was smooth so it should last for a while. Also drilled and tapped for the pyro. That was nerv-racking but it went well to. I went post turbo. It was just easier and I didn't have the time to take the exhaust manifold off to drill and tap. I couldn't see any other way of going pre without a heap of work removing the turbo and stuff. As the pyro is going to be used to monitor future performance mods going post shouldn't make any difference. Its a point of reference.

Next is intercooler!!!!

Cheers and happy modding,

Gav

I see you want to go intercooler..installed meth injection (refered to as chemical intercooler) in my bj74 and work great:) Got the kit from Snow Performance.

Using 2 nozzles one 100(black) and one 175(green) in size and shut off valve for each nozzle

For normal driving I use the 100 size and for hard work I use both;)

Here a a few pics

Happy trails

Hi Mojoloco,

I'll have a look around the net about meth injection. Looks like a more compact set up than an intercooler system.
I'm interested in the catch can set up you have on your engine. The engine/oil breather hose into the filter. Do you get much blow by? I have a little since uping the boost on the turbo.

Cheers.

Was it really neccessary to replace the whole booster, ain't the seals sold sepratly ?

Yes, many times it is just the rear seal (firewall side) on the BJ series clutch boosters that fail. Simply remove the circular clip and replace the seal. Just changed the seal on my original booster, got it from the local Toyota Dealer.

Toyota Part No is 44621-28120

A lot cheaper than a new or used clutch booster that's for sure.

I suppose you need to remove the C/B first, or can it be done still attached to the vehicle & pedal?
I'am finding it difficult to get somebody to repair this for me, so need to know as much as possible please.

Contact Ms Summer Liu.

It was about $132.00 landed here in Canada. 90% was shipping cost.

Hope yours lasts longer than mine did, I got 2 months of use from it. It started leaking and eventually was making loud high pitch sounds (like blowing on grass between your thumbs). I replaced the seal in my original booster and re-installed it ...works fine. Perhaps I just got a bad one?

Sorry to hear that mate but glad you have it sorted now. Anyone else who has had the Chinese booster fail should post it up. If they are no good poeple shouldn't buy them.

Thanks Glen & Boogie, will search for the correct one or go with the conversion of deleting the booster. I can fit the 75series pick-up master cylinder and then just blank off the vacuum piping. Wíll let you know.
