I am looking for a new or used factory clinometer for a 70 series. Are they available from Toyota?

I'm pretty sure they're still available, a buddy of mine ordered one through Panama about a year ago. Bring $$$$!

Thanks for the replys. I don't think the 60 series ones are the same. Are they? Does anyone have the part #'s for the Toyota ones? The guys at the parts counter here are cluless.

Look on Ebay. I found a whack of them there. None were explicitly for 70 series, but could easily be adapted and are very similar to the 70 series ones.

I saw those ones. They lack the "cool" factor of a factory clinometer. Idealy I would like factory, but if I can't find one then I guess I'll have to go with one of those.

Thanks David.

The good news is that they are available... the bad news is that they are about $1250 CAD. OUCH!! I'm going to have to think about that one for a while.

you will need the upper dash padding thingy as well with the recess and holes. I have 2 of those (RHD) that I could part with as well a couple clinometer assy that I could part with too, given how useless they are
1350$CAN = 850€, mmh now that I think about it I could have 2 clinometer assys for sale :D

Why do you say they are useless? How much for 1 complete assy?

They give a delayed update . No one in their right mind would be looking at one of these when their cruiser is at 45'.

Basically they are just a gadget. At one stage all the Japanese 4wd manufacturers were equipping the Australian spec vehicles with inclinometers, now none of them are.
Spend your money on some real upgrades.

The 60 meter fits in the dash and 70 have a pod that sits on top of the dash as do the hilux

waste of money, nice for show but really...
"i was at 55 degrees when it turned turtle"
nice if you want a complete full load rig but not practicle for real life...

So if your driving a lightly lifted wagon, close to stock. Where would a guy need to get nervous on a cross hill?

What degrees guys?

Cross hills make me nervous :o

when your weiner is hanging off the outside of your leg then you are about to go over...
take a forklift, insert under frame and chain frame loosely to the fork lift. stick someone you don't like inside the crusier. take it up till it leaves the forks and that is your roll over degrees. should you have left too much slack in the chain then it is a good thing the insdie person is someone you didn't like.

register the degrees on the gauge and minus 5 degrees...

remember if you are about to go over then turn down hill...and give it some gas...

The two sets I bought have the altimeter and the tilt gauges, they only go to 30 degrees like the others. And have. 4WD TOYOTA " WARNING- ACCURATE ONLY WHEN COMPLETELY STOPPED. DO NOT EXCEED 30 DEGREES." probably why the lights off switch is along side the warning. LOL. I have no room to fit them on top of the dash on the HJ75.:D

I have a forklift..... I think I'll have to try this when I get my cruiser back on the road.. Cool. Thanks Wayne for the exercise. That'll be fun to try.

As everyone is hung different I don't think I want to try that method :smokin:
