I was given what will eventually make nice steel gas cans.

I will use them to hold extra waste cooking oil or bio diesel.

Either will contain water, so the cans will need to be sealed anyway.

Also, one can has some small rust holes, meaning that there must be rust and crap and thin metal.

I seem to recall sealing old corvette gas tanks after washing them out.

That was many years ago.

So, what do I use to clean out the crap and rust, and what do I use to seal these 5 gallon metal cans?

Thanks in advance,

Take them to a radiator shop. Old school ones usually do gas tanks too so they could dip and seal your cans.

Or use the POR 15 gas tank coating shtuff if you wanna do it yourself.

the gas/ jerry can i recently bought at a estate sale was mint inside,( unused) but the outside is faded with some surface rust............but for 3 bucks......:hillbilly:
