Edit a while later: I just discovered that a 1981 JDM 2B-powered BJ41 was fitted with coolant reservoir/bottle (or TANK ASSY, RADIATOR RESERVE to speak Toyota language) 16480-24010 provided the BJ41 was made not later than October of that year. Now this is indeed the same reservoir that my 1979 General Market BJ40 was given!(So my eyes aren't deceiving me and we can indeed call "snap" over our coolant reservoirs Wes.)

You are correct! The tank number and cap number changed for BJ41's after October of '81. The tank number for a later model BJ41 is 16480-41140, and the cap number is 16405-56012. I believe the aforementioned tank is still available, but the cap is not. It appears the later tank was longer and narrower. I can't really tell what the difference would have been in the cap. There were several other differences with the coolant system on the later BJ41 as well.

I tried Muriatic Acid bath as Mentioned earlier, but results were not great. So I whipped ou the Magic eraser followed by Bleach, liquid dish soap and some tumbler media, then SHAKE to clean inside of my ‘81 overflow tank and Windshield Wiper fluid container.

Pretty happy with results.
