Does anyone how where near CHarlotte NC can I take my truck to have the inside of the frame cleaned out? I'm assuming there would be places with air or water pressure equipment that can clean the inside of the frame out. I dont have the equipment or space or know how to do this professionally. I assume a hose, clean green and some high pressure applications will get grime and loose rust flakes out. The idea I have is, after it is cleaned up to apply
A rust coverter and wax to extend the life of the frame a couple more years. For that I can buy the eastwood canisters with flexible wands and do that parts myself, but first need to get the frame really cleaned out well.

I used an electric pressure washer. I was most concerned with the drain holes. I jammed a screwdriver in there to make sure they were clear.

I then just used cavity wax. Order some extra extension tubes. One of mine got hung up, trapped and broken off.

depends how bad your frame is. I can show you a before or after . or come by in person. just let me know I have a guy come to my shop to blast and then we can paint or coat accordingly

@Rebel32L - I recommend posting this request up in our local clubhouse forum here in mud, Olde North State Cruisers

We have a very active club chapter, full of restorers, wheelers, and everything in between. Great group of people and very knowledgeable and willing to help. We have monthly events in Charlotte. Including cars and coffee this weekend, not a sanctioned/sponsored event but fun to drool over other rigs.

Here's our link. Hope to share a cold beverage with you in a couple weeks! Cheers, george

My 80 is in the salt air all summer and fall and every time I get home in addition to hosing off the underside in general, I use a hard stream and shoot it in the large hole just ahead of the rear wheels, aimed forwards. If you haven't done this it quickly fills the rails as the drain holes are too few and small to evacuate the water fast enough. I have added various substances to the water occasionally such as, Salt Away, Vinegar, and car soap. Still the underside has begun rusting pretty quickly where I havent kept up with, or been able to reach, with a spray film, but inside the rails seems to be clean.

I would definitely recommend the pressure washer. I recently cleaned out my frame and there was lots of dirt inside there. I used the 0 degree nozzle for max power and just stuck it in the access holes on the side of the frame and blasted away. Dirty job but definitely worth doing to extend the life of your truck, I am up in Boone, NC and there are a couple of equipment rental places that rent pressure washers. I am sure there are lots of options down in the CLT area to rent one too. They quoted me around $50 dollars for a day rental. I ended up getting my own though and I think it was a worthy investment.

Check out Fluid Film as a rust inhibitor option. I have used it some on my frame and it seems to work well to keep rust at bay. It is available in spray cans and gallon pails at Lowes and Napa.
