Does anyone know of a shop that restores old a/c units. I’m also looking for plastic housing parts from damaged units.

I too have a 40 with an old inoperable Clardy unit in it. I have removed the old compressor and bracketry and added a factory Denso unit and mount from an FJ60. I have not had new lines made for it yet. The electronics seem to be working, and the housing and vents are in good shape, but until I hook up the compressor, I won't really know what I've got.
My plan is to get the old unit working again over the winter and charge it up. If it doesn't pan out, I'll probably pull it all out and install a new Vintage Air unit. I also have two other rigs with new-ish vintage air units that aren't working either. Seems like these aftermarket AC units are a total crap shoot. Good luck!
