ive been getting a clanking sound from the front end whenever i start to slow down. Cant tell if its from one side or both. I thought it was my u-joints going bad cause i have ome j heavys in the front with no weight, I figured my front end would be over 3.5" lift, so i bought a slee dc front driveshaft from another member a week ago and after installation I still get the same sound. The driveshaft was used, but was told only for 10k miles. I did get under there and shook it around and didn't have any movements. My front axles were repacked and bearings replaced last summer. I only get the clanking sounds when i'm moving slow and decelerating. Don't really get the sound when i'm braking, but when i take my foot off the brake as the truck is slowing down I could really hear the clanking sounds from the front. I would hear it from around 10mph until i stop. Do you guys think my birfields are dead? I do have 210k, and believe they are stock birfs. I was thinking of some birfs from ebay from the seller car parts. Its going for $160 a piece. But it says 95-97 requires a different drive plate. I have a 95. Been reading through the past posts and believe they are 91-94 birfs thats why i need a different drive plate. I dont plan on going offroad anymore, pretty much driving it as a winter car. Think those birfs are good enough? TIA

Check the brakes well. Look for the rattle clips, without those, brakes can make a lot of noise.

are the rattle clips the metal clips that sticks out of the brake pads on the end? i've changed the brakes before, maybe i didnt put it on correctly.

never mind what i asked about the rattle clips, went out and checked it, everything looks good. I was picturing the brakes on my civic with the little clip on the end.
