Chrome Side Mirror Backing on 96 FZJ80?

I am looking at a 96 FZJ80 to purchase. It has chrome backing on the side view mirrors. The owner says this was a standard option on all black FZJ80's.

I called his bluff because I had a black 95 FZJ80 and currently own a black 97 FZJ80 and neither had the chrome effect.

I have never seen this option on ANY FZJ80 and wondered what the enlighted folk on here could add.

I mentioned it could be an aftermarket option but he now claims (instead of standard) that it was a factory orderable option and he has the window sticker to prove it. It also has the gold emblem package which I'm not a fan of but the mileage and options will help me get past it.

I will attempt to include a picture but being a noob may prohibit my success...

Sorry, cruiser4life, this was available (I believe only on black 80s in '96- called the "Black Package" or somethiing similar). The man ain't lyin', and that's a nice looking Cruiser! What are the details on it?

The seller is correct.

The "Black Package" had chrome door handles, mirrors, and a few other chrome bits. A friend has one and calls it the ghetto cruiser. I believe they also have chromed alloys though that may have been a dealer thing.

202 black Cruisers have chrome door handles and mirrors from 5-95 to 12-95. 1-96-up have black handles and mirrors.


Chrome alloys would be a dealer deal thru aftermarket platers.

Beowulf: Ghetto cruiser is as apropos a nickname as any I guess! If I end up buying it, I'll have to tone down the bling effect with some serious mods. I am buying it to wheel anyway so it should be an interesting experiment.

Alaskacruiser: The details. It's reportedly a 96 with 85,000 miles and the OEM front and rear lockers. My 97 has 150,000 miles and no lockers. I want to do mods to it but being a 97 (potential HG issues), high miles and no lockers, this one seems like a better fit. Price is high but this market is typically that way and I've been looking for a while for an 80 with low miles, front and rear lockers and no wheeling history.

My "202" is a 12/95.

Those big ole shinny mirrors stuck out like a sore thumb. I coated them with Duplicolor bedliner. Had trouble with the spray version staying on, so I brushed on about an 1/8 inch layer, has stayed on well. Still have the damn door handles though.


I also blacked out the grill!! Used Krylon Semi-Flat black.

I'd love to have chrome doorhandles and mirrors! So I need to find a black one to rob the chrome off of? Seriously, I'm working on a Cruiser project where the more chrome the better. Junk doesn't call me MR. BLING for no reason. If I felt the 20" Spinners wouldn't get wrecked on the trail I'd be going for some of those too! Mount up some XMLs and I'd be set. When complete I will definitely have a one of a kind Cruiser. Whether you all love it or hate it makes no difference to me

picked up a set of new in the box OEM 80 series chrome mirrors for $35 for the pair

heck I tried to find someone what wanted to swap em for ANY working 80 mirrors...........but nope, no one wanted them.............so sad Hell I love em now, I am doing the pimp pack on a 40 even.......all the OEM chrome Toyota made........and i gots it

so yeah stock. whats funny is most 3rd world spec 80's have the chrome standard......even on base models

not sure, green, mustard or 45LV.........if the LV then I cant use the chrome bumperettes, if on the green or mustard I need to have a square bezel chromed as I only have the OEM chrome round...................hard to decide Leaning towards the mustard as I have fj60(optional fj40) chrome wheels on it.


and sorry no more $35 a pair chrome fj80 mirors..........I offered up before for trade......and no takers
