Chrome or black lug nuts for Rock Warrior wheels? Also McGard makes two different lengths. Short or long? Summit has them for around $6 apiece for the short, $8 apiece for the long.

Chrome are what come in the TRD kit from Toyota:

I don't know whether they are "short" or "long" but here's the size (about 1 1/4"):

Black would probably look OK - your choice. Be careful to get the lug nuts with the rotating collar at the base of the nut (as shown in the pic) - this assures the nut doesn't chew up the mating surface on the forged wheel.

HTH

Great - thanks for the info. Will be going with the chrome versions. The lug nuts are hard to find with the rotating collars. Only Mcgard makes them and Summit Racing sells them in 4 packs.

Thanks for the link. I don't want the kit as it includes the locking nuts. I would have to buy 4 more lug nuts anyway and it'll be cheaper to just buy all of them outright.

Ah, I get it. And I see your point. My LC came with the RW wheels and the full kit, and like everyone I *hate* those silly wheel locks. So last week I bought this kit:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B006CUDZB8/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Now I have a spare lug nut, and a spare splined socket. The locking lug nuts went into the trash when I did a full rotation on Saturday.

One other thing: I don't like how the sockets could scratch the RW wheels, so I found some big heat shrink tubing at Homey Depot and put that around the outside of both sockets.

Good link - thanks!

That's a great idea! I'll do that to mine today.

Except those aren't gonna work on these splined lug nuts. But it is where I got the idea.

That's what you call posting without verifying! Just grabbed a link and didn't even check.

FYI - I just bought these lug nuts from Slee Off Road. I found that they were the best value because their lug nuts are powder coated black, come with the spline socket, and you get all 20 without that risky key/lug that people usually get rid of. Out the door, my cost was $63.19.

McGard is what you want. Toyota branded kits are actually made by McGard... And ya... Wheel locks are a MENACE. So prone to failure and then you’re stuck. The spline adapter needed for RW wheels serves as a pretty decent theft deterrent anyway...

+1 for chrome...

Don't mean to hijack but when I bought my RW's on eBay I received all the lugs but no spline adapter. Where would a guy find one?

Here ya go.
McGard = Toyota unit.
Consider ordering 2...as they can go missing if you aren’t on the ball at tire shops...
