Cover on mine is still quite good, no rips/tears or anything Like I mentioned in an earlier post the tent is several years old, and has been sitting on the roof of my truck 24/7 for 2 years now and has been through numerous tight overgrown BC trails with no damage.
The zipper on the cover was busted long before I got it, and the PO put a bunch of snap buttons around it an attempt to seal it up. Not perfect but it does the job.
The original cover straps have failed from UV damage, and one of the original plastic pole mounts/pivots broke when I first got it off the previous owner. I replaced them with some fabricated steel ones.

The cover on mine is super thick.
Just to be clear, you have an ARB tent?

For $1400 or whatever you shouldn't have to do that much MacGyvering to it.

No, mine is some Chinese brand. I'm the third owner of it, it's several years old.

How about the covers? :bounce: The covers? :bounce2: The covers? :bounce:
Are the covers any better on the ARB than the Mombasa? The cover on the mombasa is total garbage.

The cover on our shop Mombasa RTT held up well. The stitching wasn't totally straight everywhere but it held up well.

The ARB cover seems a bit thicker (maybe) but a bigger difference is it tightens with the top straps on both sides. This enables you to get it tighter and more evenly tight.

Stumbled across some old photos. Don't think this model is from China...

weird rear doors...

I generally like to support goods made hear but if most tents are made in China and if others are interested what do we say we begin an order for 10 or more to get the better pricing.

Honestly, I am amazed this has not happened sooner, as a group you would save a s***ton of money.....

@ $517 with annex count me in on a GB!

Tagged for interest...

Even with shipping this would still be a steal!

RTT

Count me in on the deal! :steer:

Thanks,

Blake

Had I known it would have! I missed the CVT group deal last year so with tax refund I'm going IPOR rear and one of these if it gets put together, who do we need to talk to in order to get a list going?

Good morning all. I have read this thread and want everyone to know that these are all built in China. ARB, CVT, Tepui, tents on a rack etc..... There are more than 20 different factories in China. The biggest difference between most of us is quality. Some just buy to resell and for myself I continually upgrade our tents. We carry a 280g rips top. The reason we do not go heavier is because you want them to breath. The more you get into a heavier canvas the more you have to take care of it. We do things different as our poles for our tents are heavier. Our annex rooms are like no others. The mesh is heavier than most etc... Customer service plays a big part also. I do appreciate the time that everyone puts in to checking out a RTT. There are some really good ones out there. You can buy a tent from china all day long for 350.00. Good luck with those.
We will be doing our annual group buy in March so keep an eye out. If you have any questions about RTT's please let me know.

How can I be the only one this is happening to?

And not just one cover but two.

And not just after lot of driving but after one trip.

Is the shape of the ladder any different on the ARB? Because if they use a tubular metal instead of a sharp angled ladder then perhaps that will help. Because that's what's doing it. Friction with the ladder.

Will this be the same deal as last year? IIRC the Mt Hood with annex was right around $1000 plus $150 in shipping. I saw your GB thread and we've posted to it but no one has answered

There were several of us there asking but looked like it was going to take 30 to get it to the price we all wanted.
