Just to be clear, you have an ARB tent? The cover on mine is super thick.
Cover on mine is still quite good, no rips/tears or anything Like I mentioned in an earlier post the tent is several years old, and has been sitting on the roof of my truck 24/7 for 2 years now and has been through numerous tight overgrown BC trails with no damage.
The zipper on the cover was busted long before I got it, and the PO put a bunch of snap buttons around it an attempt to seal it up. Not perfect but it does the job.
The original cover straps have failed from UV damage, and one of the original plastic pole mounts/pivots broke when I first got it off the previous owner. I replaced them with some fabricated steel ones.

For $1400 or whatever you shouldn't have to do that much MacGyvering to it.
How about the covers?The covers?
The covers?
Are the covers any better on the ARB than the Mombasa? The cover on the mombasa is total garbage.
I generally like to support goods made hear but if most tents are made in China and if others are interested what do we say we begin an order for 10 or more to get the better pricing.
Honestly, I am amazed this has not happened sooner, as a group you would save a ****ton of money.....
The cover on our shop Mombasa RTT held up well. The stitching wasn't totally straight everywhere but it held up well.
The ARB cover seems a bit thicker (maybe) but a bigger difference is it tightens with the top straps on both sides. This enables you to get it tighter and more evenly tight.
Good morning all. I have read this thread and want everyone to know that these are all built in China. ARB, CVT, Tepui, tents on a rack etc..... There are more than 20 different factories in China. The biggest difference between most of us is quality. Some just buy to resell and for myself I continually upgrade our tents. We carry a 280g rips top. The reason we do not go heavier is because you want them to breath. The more you get into a heavier canvas the more you have to take care of it. We do things different as our poles for our tents are heavier. Our annex rooms are like no others. The mesh is heavier than most etc... Customer service plays a big part also. I do appreciate the time that everyone puts in to checking out a RTT. There are some really good ones out there. You can buy a tent from china all day long for 350.00. Good luck with those.
We will be doing our annual group buy in March so keep an eye out. If you have any questions about RTT's please let me know.
