I have a Chevy V8 that is being built right now for an install in a 45 wagon. It is a pre 85 block.

I just found out tonight that the dipstick is on the drivers side. I plan on installing saginaw power steering. Center dump (ramshorns) manifolds. Do I have a problem? Flex dipstick needed?

Thanks, Matt

i have sag, ramhorns ,and have no issues mine is a 40 but i do have to pull the dipstick from outside through the fenderwell ,so i can check the oil without even opening the hood it works for me . there might be a specific dipstick that works with the ramhorns . but i justed picked up one of those cheapie chrome ones and shoved it in

i also have the same set up in a 40, just lightly bent the dipstick tube and clears everything no problem.

I don't understand how you pull the dipstick from the outside through the fenderwell without opening the hood? I believe you, but I'm just not envisioning it?

Do you have your fenderwells cut away?

Thanks, Matt

no .... just pull the dip stick out from where the origional steering box used to be . i also have a 2 inch bodylift . funny thing is i can't actually really remember how i did it either . my truck is in pieces

I have the later 93 TBI 350 and the dipstick is on the passenger side. That doesn't solve your issue but I have the saginaw steering and the ramhorns don't appear to give much way for a dipstick if it were on the driver side. HTH.

As others have said, no problem. But, It can be harder for a shorter person to get the dipstick out on a taller rig if you have the stock brake master and booster in your way.

I just went to the dealership and got a dip stick from a 78-80 (I think) PU that is ment to go on the passenger side. I then plugged the drivers side hole.
