Just found out that I can go on a hunt of a lifetime. But I need to leave at 2:30am in order for it to work. I have no spare tire...3 nails in it. And my back right stock LTX is starting to shred.....can see radial threads (the metal ones, not just the cords). I do not think that it will last the 500 mile trip. But I am following a guy driving a 2002 Chevy 1500 4x4.....not sure what the lug pattern is on those trucks, but I think that the chevy rims are the same measurments as the FZJ80 rims. You guys think I could get by using his 275/70/16 spare if we were in a pinch?

There are no shops open now, and none will be open until at least 8am tomorrow morning, and I hope to be in the stand by then.

Place we are hunting at, people pay thousands of dollars to hunt. We were invited to hunt for free. Last weekend thing, I guess.

The center bore of the GM wheel will be too small.

I have 2 full sets of almost new tires, I'll go for you....:D

No matter if it is front or back?

I have never hunted in Texas. I have only ever hunted Pennsylvania. This will be my first hunt in Texas...and in the most famous of hunting ranches. I have watched hunts on TV from this place. Because it is a freebie, I don't think I should disclose the name.

I picked up my first Texas Hunting License today, and there were 6 or 7 deer tags on it. I just stared at it. In PA, we only were allowed one deer. My buddy just told me to get all the coolers I own and put them in the truck.

I need to find something to use for a spare........

you drive around with metal showing in your tires???

check to see if his spare has a roughly 4 inch opening and it should be fine. It most likely won't so my best suggestion is to call someone local who has a cruiser, or beg borrow steal or use another rig. with tires like those, you won't be wheeling anyway.

uhhhh,
ride with the chebbie guy???

Uhhhh where in Texas are you going Deer hunting now? Must be a Southern Zone Counties...open season for 3 more days. Unless your going spike or antlerless...you got a couple weeks...Ummm...there is a walmart in Uvalde...I think. Good luck!

What a pal!

Since the best hunting in Texas is South, and you are only traveling 500 miles, you must already be in Texas. Right now ist 3:45 Central, why can't you find an open shop. At wors, its 4:45pm at the latest in the US.

I wonder if we will get to know the outcome.

I guess that was a NO on you getting to go for him, but hey... it was worth a try.

Well, I survived. And you were all right, the Chevy rim didn't have a big enough hub hole in it. I kept the tire inflated to 45+ (to stay off of the metal frayed edges) and the vibration was just barable. Stopped at a mom and pop place and tried to buy a used 275, but they had none. And in the process the LX450 decided to lock the doors while the engine was running. Thank god there are a bunch of car theives down there that know how to break into a car fast.

Shot a sweet 10 point on the trip that scored 121 6/8ths. So it was worth it.

Just bought a full set of 285 Nittos and will keep track of the mileage and wear on them.

Thanks for your input.
