Does anyone have any experience with the cheap $200 steering racks on Amazon and Ebay? My son has limited funds so he is not prepared for an OEM part.
I know you are all slapping your foreheads at the moment but it is what it is...
Will it last one year? That would be great for him.
Or is it easy to rebuild the seals in the OEM unit? The unit has been working ok, no loss of power, no noises but it suddenly started dripping all the oil in one hour through the boots. You fill the tank, leave the truck parked and one hour later all the oil is around the front wheels.

Why not try a re-sealer first? I had basically the same thing happen one day. All of a sudden I had no fluid in reservoir and would not steer.

In the empty reservoir, I put in about 1/3 bottle of Lucas power steering sealer then ATF to fill line. It did stop the leak. I drove it without issues for a long while before selling it.

What year? Bell Lexus has reman unit for earlier models for less than $400?

If your going to buy a cheap one, buy one from NAPA or other local store so it can be returned if needed. I bought mine from NAPA and its been fine for the last 4 years.

My GX 470 (not LX) has a cheap reman and there's slack in the wheel in the middle position. Annoying.

On My LX, I just installed a dealer/OEM-new rack yesterday (from 11 AM until 5pm, then after dinner for a few hours). Would rather not do this twice. Not hard, but involved and lots of access issues.

If I were doing this on the cheap, I'd get a Lares reman on Rock Auto.

Are you replacing for an LC or LX?

25% off sale going on right now from some Southern Toyota dealers. Good time to score an OE rack and do the job right.

OP, there's a 25% off toyota sale going on right now (and I believe it's usually free shipping)

I would recommend at least going for the Toyota rebuilt units and rolling the dice on that over an aftermarket one. As others have said, it's a tromendous amount of working swapping it out. I know this as I just did mine 2 weeks ago.

If i'm not mistaken, the reman P/N is: 44250-60050 but confirm that works with your year as there are (2) different versions for older/newer.
