For kicks, I asked ChatGTP how to change the axles on a 100. Here is what I got:

Replacing an axle on a 100-series Land Cruiser typically involves the following steps:

  1. Lift the vehicle and support it securely on jack stands.
  2. Remove the wheel and brake caliper.
  3. Remove the hub assembly and the snap ring that holds the axle in place.
  4. Pull the old axle out of the differential and the hub assembly.
  5. Insert the new axle into the differential and the hub assembly.
  6. Replace the snap ring and reassemble the hub assembly and brake caliper.
  7. Repeat for the other side if needed.
It's important to follow proper safety procedures and use the correct tools and parts for the job. If you're not comfortable with this type of repair, it's recommended to seek the assistance of a qualified mechanic.

that's a nice wave-top summary of the steps, lol. Looks like we have a few years to go before the takeover happens. ;)

You talking about pulling the front axles?

I think the hardest part is getting them out of the diff. They are held in with a snap ring (like the berfield is held onto the axle with). And sometimes can be difficult to get them off.

SteveO’s Garage can handle that.
