Hey all I can use some help in locating where I am supposed to attach the chassis ground cable to. I bought the upgraded heavy duty cables from Fourrunner (https://forum.ih8mud.com/merchandise-storefront/479096-fzj80-heavy-duty-battery-cable-sets.html) and I do not know where to use the large 1/0 ground cable. It is listed as chassis ground, but where does it go to chassis at. I might be trying way too hard here but I have searched to no avail. Anyone out there.......

I am told that it goes from the starter to the side of the frame. Thanks!!

Where did you ground the starter to the frame? I too recently installed Fourrunner's upgraded battery cables, but could not find where to use the "negative to chassis" cable. His kit is here: https://forum.ih8mud.com/showpost.php?p=6585513&postcount=1

The ground cable in question is 1/0 gauge and about 1 foot long. This is NOT the ground that goes from the battery to the block.

Can you be more specific on where this cable goes?

Thanks! :)

Here is what I found, the kit has one very long ground cable with a 90 degree lug on one end, that cable goes from the negative terminal to the engine block. The two short smaller diameter ground cables goes from firewall to the head, the second one goes from the transfer case to the floor tunnel (both of these replace a factory cable). The short and fat 1/0 negative cable goes from the negative terminal to the fender well. The starter to the frame ground was incorrect information. The above is for the FZJ and LX only I believe.

It was that last one (from center diff to floor tunnel) that one held me up for a while. Highly recommend this "kit". I added this, an upgraded light harness, new HIR bulbs, man what a difference.

Good to hear, newtomelx. I use that abrasion resistant stuff on my FJ80 kit (comes stock with it on some of the parts). Good stuff. I ought to consider offering that as an upgrade...hum.

I used Techflex Insultherm for the wire sleeving in the engine bay. Great abrasion resistance and it protects up to 1,200°F. Probably a little overkill but it had the higher heat resistance along with great abrasion protection and flexibility.

For other cables less exposed to heat, I used Techflex Flexo PET. Very cost effective while providing abrasion resistance as well, and not too shabby on heat.

FLEXO PET
Maximum Continuous (MIL-I-23053) 257°F/125°C
Melt (ASTM D-2117) 482°F/250°C
