3rd Owner - CA, TN, NC history
It's unfortunately time to part ways with my 1984 Land Cruiser, nicknamed "Bluey" by my kids. Going to be taking a break from restoration projects and downsizing/simplifying to prioritize time on increased career duties, home renovation, and busy schedule with 2 young kids.
I've owned for almost 2 years, and has been a fun project and great local runabout. Has been on several road trips as well, for Olde North State Cruiser events and substituting for daily driver duties for several weeks at a time when changing other family vehicles. The truck has been completely gone through mechanically to be a dependable daily-driver classic Land Cruiser and a great rust-free platform for someone to continue building to their needs and taste. Has never skipped a beat in rush hour traffic, 300+ mile road trips, highway, offroad, etc. Ready to handle any situation. While not perfect, has had all major and common issues addressed with the ubiquitous enthusiast solutions and parts, and is ready for the next owner with little to no notes or pending projects. This is my third 60 series, and by far the cleanest and best condition.
History
Originally sold in Oceanside, CA, first owner drove daily until 2000 at 162K miles. From what I was told, the truck mostly sat in storage from 2000-2011, until their son began driving it short distances as a surfboard hauler. Several "failed emissions" reports on Carfax suggests they were not able to keep the original smog equipment up to California emission standards, and parted ways with it in 2018 at 169k. The second owner purchased and trailered it to their home in Nashville, TN as a restoration project. They did several different projects with it, including replacing the carpet with Dynamat underneath, recovering seats, and replacing the roof skin (minus finish welding). They also began to compile parts for a mechanical refresh, although didn't get much past a new brake booster. The truck mostly sat between weekend projects, covering 5k miles in 5 years, before I purchased in early 2023. Truck has never seen road salt and is extremely clean underneath. A walkaround video showing details (and cleanliness) of the common FJ60 rust problem areas is included in the Google Drive link.

- Air conditioning does not blow cold. All parts are present and appear functional, and AC idle-up retained during de-smog. I have not attempted a charge or know if a 134 conversion was done, so I would expect a hardware refresh is needed. Included with sale is a new Denso AC compressor and the full RockAuto suite of evaporator, drier, and seals. I drive windows down 95% of the time, and was a non-issue for me 8 months out of the year, so I haven't rushed to repair.
- Windshield and headlight washers are disconnected (headlight washer arms interfered with ARB bumper). All parts to re-install are included with sale.
- Exhaust has been re-done with removed catalytic converter (original was crumbling apart), and a bullet muffler with turndown. Adds some nice volume on throttle, but fades away with no drone during cruising. Is louder than stock and may not be to everyone's preference, but in my opinion is fun and nowhere near obnoxious.
- Small drip from transmission input seal after long (1+ hour) drives. Regrettably the one seal I did not replace when the transmission was out for the clutch. Will leave 1-2 drops overnight and then nothing until the next long drive.
- There are some dents on the body, most notable on the bottom of the passenger front door. Typical crack in dash by factory speaker holes. Detailed pictures of notable dents/patina items in Google Drive.
- 5 33x10.50x15 BFG tires with OEM wheels (pictured in Google drive)
- Original skid plates, spare tire hoist (fully functional) and tools, miscellaneous spare and original parts
- 3 Yakima roundbars with 1A towers, wind deflector, locks & key (pictured in Google drive) for adding roof accessories
Cheese and crackers!
