I have decided to sell (or trade) my 2002 Lexus LX470 (Riverrock Green Mica) rigged for offroading, overlanding, and camping. I've owned it since August 2018. I purchased from a guy in Atlanta that bought the LX in 2016 from someone in New Orleans. He bought it stock and did most of the mods. I have made some minor changes since I purchased. The car has no rust and has never been in the north. The is pretty clean inside and out but there are some areas that show age. The truck runs great. It just needs a little TLC to be near perfect. I used it for an annual camping trip and little bit of off-roading. There are some mud stains in the undercarriage and wheel wells. It could probably use a good detail and maybe some shampoo on the carpet. I have also noted some items below that I may start to fix depending upon how long it takes to sell the truck. Regardless, this truck is ready to hit the mountains and do some serious camping. It is a great platform that can easily be modified to suit your preferences. It could use a little love, but it works great as is too. I will miss the truck, but it needs to be with someone that is going to use it the way it is built.

VIN: JTJHT00W823518242

Current Mileage: ~190,000

Price: $13,500 - I would also consider trades and trades plus cash. Stock to mild build 60, 80 or 100, or a 1st gen 4runner

Below are all the mods:

SUSPENSION & TIRES
  • 3" Heavy Duty OME lift with differential drop (hydraulic suspension removed)
  • Five 295/75/16 Toyo Open Country Tires
EXTERIOR & RECOVERY
  • ARB Bull Bar Front Bumper with fog lights
  • Snorkel
  • Custom built rock sliders
  • Custom built rear bumper with dual swing outs (1 for spare, 1 for 2x jerry cans). I removed the Jerry can basket (it was welded on by the PO) and added a 2” receiver hitch on the driver side swing arm. This allows me to add a removal rack that will hold a small cooler and a jerry can. 2 Jerry cans to come with the LX.
  • Warn Zeon 10s winch with synthetic rope
  • Factor 55 Flatlink
  • Wern recovery bag.
  • 2 water jerry cans with spouts
  • LED rock lights (great for camping)
  • LED light in galley area (cooking at night)
POWER
  • National Luna Dual battery system with battery monitor
  • Deep cycle aux battery
  • Slee dual battery holder
  • Rear blue seas fuse box (ready to add more aux items)
  • Rear switches
  • Power Inverter
INTERIOR
  • Custom rear mounting board
  • ARB 37Qt Fridge Freezer with cover
  • Adventure Trailer Fridge Slide Combo with Partner Steel Stove (I have some interest in the slide stove/fridge combo - so I am willing to remove and sell seperately).
  • Custom built storage/sleeping pad.
RECENT MAINTENANCE
  • Mechanic (146k) - LexTech in Charleston
    • Waterpump and timing belt
    • Heater ts, other belts hoses
    • Right side valve cover gasket
  • Alternator (155k)
  • Bluetooth Adapter (USA-SPEC BT and adapter)
  • Rear speakers (foam repair kit - simply speakers)
  • New front speakers
  • New second battery (160k)
  • Replaced both valve cover gaskets (165k)
  • Replaced radiator (170k)
  • Replaced front diff (150K)
  • Replaced front/rear breaks (185K)
  • Repacked hubs (185K)
  • Replace tires (185K)
  • New Battery (189K)
  • Oil Change (189K)
SOME THINGS TO NOTE:
  • The title is exempt (mileage). Apparently this is normal for cars with over 100k miles that were located in Louisiana. The mileage seems to be correct though.
  • I have the original 2 drawer system that the PO built. I can remove the storage system that I built and exchange for the 2 drawer system if desired. Or you can have both.
  • The Warn recovery bag includes gloves, recovery/tree straps, shackles, snatch block.
  • It does not have differential locks...only the center lock.
  • The third row seats were removed by the PO and I do not have them. The rear has a custom mounting plate for the fridge slide and storage system. However, I cut out holes for the seat mounts. You can install the 3rd row seats back in very easily if you remove the slide and storage system.
THE NOT SO GOOD:
  • Has a deep scratch on the rear drive side door (see pics).
  • The drivers side valve cover has a small leak now.
  • One of the ARB fog lights lens is broke. Prob from a rock on the freeway. Light still works. I have LED replacements that have not been installed.
  • The leather on the front seats is starting to tear and needs to be repaired or replaced.
  • The wooden steering wheel has cracks in the wood. I have leather to wrap it with.
  • Rear seat steps need new screws.
  • Rear air does not work
  • Broken tail light (tape over it)
  • Sunroof does not work properly
  • Subwoofer needs to be replaced (or see next note)
  • I recently purchased a new center stack from a junkyard with the intention of doing the stereo/nav delete And replacing the stock stereo. I have not completed this yet, but the stack will be included. The stack does have some cracks in the plastic.

Not bad.I don’t even add oil between oil changes. Not sure about the rear air. I tried to diagnose once. It never bothers me though. Truck stays cool on the summer in Charleston.

Couple of extra pics this evening. Note the sleeping platform for solo camping.

@aswinson - Sorry for the late replay - Have not been on MUD in a while! Yes. It is still available. I have not been in a hurry to sale. Considering keeping it long enough to go on another OBX trip in early November and then selling.

may be interested in a trade... I have a LHD 80 series from Middle East

Going to bump this to the top and drop the price. Now $16,000. Will entertain a little less if you purchase before I put new tires on it. Also updating the listing to reflect current mileage, etc. Trades for a non-built/mild build 60, 80 or 100 considered.

May as well bump this again.

any chance you would be interested in selling the ARB fridge / slide?
Thanks for reaching out. I don’t think that I want to seperate. Will let you know if I change my mind.

Going to bump this up to top. I plan to use for one more trip at the end of October and then sell it. I could be convinced to sell before the trip too.

Just did the front and rear brakes, repacked front bearings, installed 5 new Toyo tires, and fixed the driver’s side window.

Will entertain reasonable offers/trades. Trades could include 60 or 80 LC or a 1st gen 4runner.

Price drop to $14.5k. Time to sell her. I love the rig, but she needs someone that is going to use her for what she was built to do. I will be replacing the main battery and cleaning her up this weekend. I added a backup camera and carplay recently. However, the front seat will need a seat cover or new leather soon. There is also some surface rust from my recent beach trips that can be handled. Nothing severe. Just surface rust. The rear tire carrier needs proper bolts. A welder I used recently installed standard bolts that do not work with lug nuts. Otherwise, she is great shape. Just time to pass her along to someone that has more time than I do.

New battery installed today. Changed the oil. And gave her a bath. Here are some uncarraige pics. Just some surface rust on the frame. The worst is on the slee diff drop.

Hoping to sell to a mudder, but I am going to list on marketplace to get some interest.
