Is there any way to tell if your charcoal canister is good or not?? I'm re-building a 85 FJ60 and I'm assuming my canister is the one that came with the vehicle in 1985.... Do they ever wear out? Should I just put a new one in??

thanks
Steve

4 posts and no pics of the rig? Shame on you ;)

oh man... the 60 is torn apart in a storage unit at th moment... My buddy owns a storage facility and i use one of the exterior units as my "Garage".... Ill see what pics I can get and post them....

Blow it out with compressed air. I don't remember what pressure to use. FSM smog manual has the specs.

Here she is...!!

This is how "Sally" looked when I picked her up for $800.... she runs, needs a new clutch (which is next after the engine rebuild), rust to be cut out then new paint.... Also going through the drivetrain with a fine tooth comb.... I'll get some pics of her in her current state.... Man she is going to be a great ride when all finished... not quite showroom but perfect enough to be a beautiful and reliable daily driver....

The various FSM (factory service manuals) will be essential for the work you are doing. You'll need the body manual, the engine manual and the emissions manual. Some or most of these are on here as downloads, or you can purchase them online.
