Have had my '97 for about 2 weeks now and have been busy becoming familiar with it and changing out the fluids etc.

I was curious to see if my Para-Ordnance P-13 would fit in the upper compartment of the console. I found it to be a perfect fit! This is probably not a revelation to those of you who "carry" but it was a pleasant surprise to me.

Man, I love this thing!

Hope you guys have your concealed carry permits....

I carry my H&K Tac in a holster that I tuck beside the center console and passenger's seat. LEO's here in NC get jumpy enough when you tell em' you have a weapon... no need to make them more nervous by making them wait while I dig it out. And YES, I have my CCW.

Had my CCW for 8 years now. In Texas, you are required to show your CCW card along with your Drivers License anytime you are carrying and are asked for I.D.
I don't know why it would make anyone nervous....with all of the background checks (state, local, and federal) you should be considered a card carrying "good guy".
I have been stopped twice in 8 years for going a little over the speed limit, both times by the DPS and neither officer did more than glance at my CCW license and promptly handed it back to me. I also recieved warnings on both occasions. I am not saying that it is a "get out of jail free" card by any means....but the officer has a better idea of what he is dealing with. The frame of my Para is 1/4" shorter than a Gov't. model and the slide and barrel are 3/4" shorter or the same as the commander length. Anything this size or smaller should lay flat in the console and allow plenty of hand room. Anyway, it was a nice surprise to find this out.

not in GA, it is assumed you are packing,

full size kimber does not fit in the LX450 console, the cavity is much smaller due to the "sub" and CD changer, and I am still pissed about this

Trade it for a Kimber Ultra Compact?

LOL just because I drive a Lexus does not mean I am made of money,

that is a tempting excuse to buy another gun

Um,

I can fit about 17 8 round enbloc clips in the upper console but the rifle is just toooooo damn long....:D I have to put it in the back  It really slows the draw down as I have to swing the tyre carrier out of the way first :whoops:

Dan -

What about a Beretta BM59 magazine conversion? Ditch those stupid Mannlicher-style clips.

Just kidding, that's sacrilege, I know! But I did have Ron Smith convert my 1942 SA to 7.62 NATO. Still sort of sacrilegious, but it sure is sweeter to shoot!

Need to put a rifle rest on the moonroof, so I can shoot from inside the vehicle...

I hope you kept the original barrel so you can fix it later...

I do not recommend going out of the moonroof. The ejected cases and mostly the clips really chip the paint on the roof and hood...

Oh my God what did I start!

Continuing the Lexus stereotype that I think what the Lexus owners really need are the class 3 MP5 in the briefcase carrier. No need to fit the d**n thing in the center console and no need to worry about the spent case denting the paintjob. :D

Both my Sig 239 and USP Compact fit fine (both are .40s). I haven't tried the full size USP. Walther PPK obviously fits, but I figure if I am going to carry I as might as well make sure it is effective.

Actually in Colorado you do not have to have a CCW to carry a weapon in your car, for protection too, not just for transporting.

Quote from the Colorado law:

18-12-204. Permit Contents - Validity - Carrying Requirements.
(3) (a) a person who may lawfully possess a handgun may carry a handgun under the following circumstances without obtaining a permit and the handgun shall not be considered concealed:
(I) the handgun is in the possession of a person who is in a private automobile or in some other private means of conveyance and who carries the handgun for a legal use, including self-defense; or
(II) the handgun is in the possession of a person who is legally engaged in hunting activities within the state.

It's actually rather funny, Denver had stricter non CCW carry laws than did most other counties (Denver is both a city and county), however the state revised their's and stated that no county or city could have stricter regulations than them, so the state could say what was allowed state-wide, and certain counties could be more lax, but not stricter.

Hehe, original barrel was worthless. Dark, pitted bore, rust, etc. Now, if I could find a chrome-lined barrel like the later M14 or M16 variants, that would be even sweeter...

dang, what's with all these peashooters?
when you goin' to get *real* guns...?

Howdy stranger, long time no see?

Timely bump, I just traded my full sized Kimber for two 12ga scatter guns (one Fabarm/HK short black tactical, the other a browning long barrel camoed for hunting) I loved my Kimber so will be getting a smaller one that fits in the LX, been doing a lot of camping lately and the steel did not hold up well in a humid tent/truck, next one will be stainless

err now I need to not get laid off so I can afford my growing shopping list

eh RT,
been on the road... just back from Far East, or Far West for me being on the left coast...

soon to start looking at my roof rack again...

and yes, you know what they say about pistols being just enough to get you to a real piece... a short Benelli will do fine too.

For me, I like the pump sound when you rack 'er up. That'll send the bad guys in the night running away. Now to fit one in the console...

ok, so this is one area where Canadians and Americans are definitely a little different. Rifles are one thing, but can you help me understand why you want/need a handgun in your centre console? Don't assume I am anti right to bear arms or criticizing the idea of CCW or anything but I have never even seen a handgun in the possession of a private citizen other than a uniformed security guard so this thread is like Mars to me. Have any of you actually used your hand guns for any practical purpose even as a deterrent in a bad situation? Is this a hobby or something you do just to ensure the right exists? anyway, don't get defensive, I'm just curious...
