Since I got burned at work and cannot make the Baja run, I talked my wife into camping at Sheeps Canyon Friday (one of my favorite places). I'm mostly packed already so it wasn't too difficult to get her onboard. She just needs to make some chili and cobbler. :p

We're leaving just after lunchtime (hopefully, depends on what happens at work). If anyone wants to tag along you're more than welcome. I'm hoping to hit Sheeps Canyon no later than 4pm.

My wife is not a big fan of wheeling, so depending on her mood Saturday morning, I'll take her over to Middle Willows then maybe out to Sandstone Cyn. That's the plan anyway.

Sorry to hear you got burned on the Baja trip Reid. Can't make it out this weekend, perhaps next time.

I'll be out there Friday night, but need to be back Saturday to get work done on the house.

Reid I'll try to remember to bring the fixins for a cobbler as well and your family is welcome to it.

Last time I tried to eat a whole one myself it wasn't pretty.:hillbilly:

iPhone?! :flipoff2:

No just Friday night. The family wouldn't last two nights.

Cool Dan. Were coming back Saturday also. I think we may just tool around the "Willows" area before heading home Sat. I don't think the Fam will be up for Sandstone Cyn. as previously hoped . . .

I'll post a map.

We'll get lots of other chances.

No one will probably need it, but here is a MAP.

Good call on Sheeps Canyon Reid my brother and I had a blast. Was it me or was the water crossing deeper coming out?

We had an audience coming back down the rock garden at the most technical spot. About 15 - 20 boys scouts were backpacking in and stopped to watch and see if there would be any carnage. They were whooping and hollering every time I stuffed a tire or hit a slider.

The scout leader asked if we got lost and Michael told him "Nope we meant to go here"
Good times!

I have had a few people in lesser rigs spectate as I went down the rock garden a few times, makes you feel pretty kewl:D. I didn't know you had sliders, I don't think they were on when I saw your rig. Lets see pics Dan.

I'm sure this trip was in no way, as 'epic' as the Baja trip would've been. But it was really nice to get out with the family. Everyone had a lot of fun.

I'm glad we also got to meet up with Dan and his brother Mike. They're a great couple of guys.

After spending some time exploring the Willows Area, we headed up to Indio Saturday afternoon to visit the in-laws. We finally headed back home yesterday after the Chargers took down the Colts.

The water crossings were deeper than I've seen. The 1st crossing actually had water in it. The area from the seasonal gate through the 3rd crossing were much rougher from water than it has been in the past.

I'll have some pictures and videos soon.

Cancel BAJA for work?

Maybe I heard/ read it wrong, but I thought you had work at the last minute and could not go to Baja. But this thread seams to say otherwise. No explanation needed. A die-hard charger fans :clap:you must be.

Bighorn pic

I am still waiting for my brother to get me the pics from this weekend but thought I would post up one of the cool animals you can see in this area. My wifes cousin took this picture in Palm Canyon just over the ridge from where we camped.

Hey Stan, yes I did have to work (Friday). I headed out to Anza Borrego right after work.

  • Lower Willows starts at the 3rd water crossing and ends where the last two pictures were taken.
  • Middle Willows is as far as you can go when driving up Lower Coyote Canyon. That is where the 1st few pictures were taken (with water).
  • Upper Willows is just around the bend from Middle Willows and ends behind Baily's Cabin in Upper Coyote Canyon.
These are the areas you cannot camp in.

I believe you can hike (or ride horses) though Middle Willows up to Upper Willows. It clear that they want no motorized vehilces going through there. Signs are posted everwhere, but some jackhole on a dirtbike went right through there. You can see tire tracks through and on the other side of the fence.
