Need some advice from anyone who’s used this part. Few things to note, the fiberglass top I’m using isn’t original to the vehicle because the original one had a sunroof cut into it. Also the fiberglass top is warped. I did a full CCOT rain gutter replacement and it is riveted to the top making the adjustments as much as possible to get things back into shape. I don’t think those factors play into what I’m dealing with but I’m putting it out there in case anyone thinks otherwise.

The CCOT windshield visor didn’t have the two windshield holes drilled in the correct position so I welded those over and drilled new holes so those fit.

The visor curved opening for the washer sprayer was also in the wrong place so I welded that up and moved it over.

I’m doing all my fitment with new OEM hardtop seals.

The current challenger is the visor seems too tall and too kicked back. It doesn’t come close to making contact with the fiberglass top anywhere near the original 7 rivet holes. When bolted up to the windshield frame, it prevents the fiberglass top from sinking low enough to make a seal along the upper door frame supports.

Did I get a bunk part? I have so many hours into this thing and it’s still a far from being anywhere near reasonable. I’ve tipped the upper edge a significant amount to attempt lowering the part and making a better seal along the fiberglass. The photos you are seeing have already lowered this by a half inch. I’m about to get seriously medieval on it.

Are there other manufacturers for this part that have been used?

Any recommendations are appreciated.

Too many variables to make the call IMO.

I would want to see the front doors hung and closed, to see the gaps between the front edge of the door and the windshield frame, as well as the gap over the top of the doors to the overhead bows. And I would want to have all of them adjusted before I would consider modifying the visor.

EVERY PIECE OF THE PUZZLE AFFECTS THE PUZZLE.

Cheers. I can do that. Its on the list anyway.

Finally got back to this last weekend. Determined door fitment doesn’t matter as it relates to this because the crossbeam from the hardtop to the windshield is correct. Decided to chop the visor down and boom goes the dynamite, fitment. Had to narrow it some too. Still have lots of work left; the drivers side is still a little off, the visor is barely tacked together and of course there’s the final seal/rivet part once I finish welding it up.

Point being, the part simply didn’t fit. Took about a centimeter off the height of it. I’ll post up more pics when I’m done.

I’ve been debating buying one of these since my top has the wrong one on it for my year, currently. But after reading this, I think I’ll hold off until I actually decide to put the top back on. I don’t weld, nor have the patience for what you went through.

Certainly a weird experience but this has been my experience with almost every panel I’ve purchased. I will say that the CCOT rain gutter kit is the best of all the things I’ve purchased but this visor was a miss.
