I want to add a CB radio and need ideas.

I would like to have a robust radio such as the Cobra 29WXNWST with PA functionality, but cannot figure out where I would mount it.

DTT: You don't have CB do you? I really like your remote headunit yaesu.

My only real option at this point is the Cobra 75WXST, which is an all-in-one microphone, but it doesn't have PA functionality.

Any ideas on where to mount a bigger radio, but still have a clean appearance?

Thanks!

EDIT: DTT: I have the same 75-822 CB as you, actually. Didn't know that :)

I have this radio- Cobra 29WXNWST

Although it works fine for a CB radio, the Night Watch function took a crap on me and I have barely used the radio. I am going to take it apart when I get time and see if I can repair it.

CBs are almost worthless in the back country unless you are using them for Cruiser to Cruiser talking - really. I can recall many times being out in the middle of nowhere and I can hear the truckers with all their highly illegal radios reaching out to me, but can I reach them? NO, because the CB is legally limited to a measely 4 Watts which isn't jack.

I suggest going to have a look at HAM 2M radio, which I myself am going to get into. On MUD, you can see where some have gotten as much as a 90 mile range, and a mountain range between the two people transmitting. That is AWESOME, especially for anyone in distress, which is one of the reasons to have a radio anyway.

Can you take a picture of where you installed it?

Thanks!

Yes of course I have a CB also....for vehicle to vehicle comms when in the back roads.

Yeah, I found your posts right after I posted this thread a while ago. Thanks!

But you also run amateur as well. What's your use/range on those? What bands do you operate on?

I want to put in a CB, ICOM HAM, and a police scanner for the fun of it :D

It's easier just to visualize it. My CB is sitting on the floor in my back seat area.... haha. I never installed it because I didn't know where to put it. So I just set it on the rear floor, thinking maybe I might make a little cabinet behind the center console sometime to put it in. (No more kid riding in the back, he's old enough he has his own truck now).
