My 89 fj62 has a cracked manifold- or so the Toyo dealer says- and I was wondering how easy of a fix this is? Is it expensive? Time consuming? How does it affect the truck's performance? Thanks.

I'd say that it's a 7/10.

Mildly expensive.

About 5-10 hrs labor.

Vast improvments in performance if that is truly the problem.

Which manifold is cracked, where and how badly? This all affects the answer.

That's a good question. The dealer just told me the manifold was cracked. I need to dig deeper into this because I am getting very poor gas mileage and my LC is running very sluggish. How would I tell which manifold is cracked? Thanks.

paid

You should ask the dealership to tell you where the crack is and show it to you.

it is probably directly below the carb.

I am assuming that it does not have a header correct?

FJ-62 right, so no carb. Does your idle bounce up and down? That is one symptom of a vacuum leak. You can spray some carb cleaner around the manifolds to see if you can pin point where the leak/crack is.

Missedt he 62 part.. (in the us at least ;) )

Seriously different intake..

They didn't tell you if it was the intake or exhaust manifold?
