INGRID IS ON THE BLOCK
(1983 FJ60 - November 82 Build - 130,000 odo)

Times are tough but this stable change is due to good news…

May 15th is the day my fiancé and I are to be wed, and no matter how we crunch and shave the numbers…we are financially screwed as it relates to paying for it. We have had a lot of help from family and friends (She brought a pretty nice dowry to the table) but my billable hours have plummeted 75% and she recently took a very challenging and rewarding job working with at-risk youth at the High School, a job that while rewarding, doesn’t pay very much.

( a nano-second before she realizes she’s being proposed to at Park Ave. Arches CM09 )

Included but not Installed:

Enough SOR Stock padding for the rest of the carpeted areas
Proffitts Anti-wrap bar materials +extra crossmember (unfabbed)
Extra New Brake Pads and Shoes
Many Extra Seals/Bolts/Ujoints/Ubolts/Items

I have tried to be thorough in this list to alleviate questions, but by all means, don’t be afraid to ask.

Known Issues and Shortcomings:

First let me say, this rig is not a Show Truck or a Full Resto. It looks like one from 15 feet but it’s not. It is also not rust free, but the rust issues are not horrible and are listed below. She does have some trail rash and dings as well.

Rust:

Bottom of tailgate (inside) small amounts
Rear wheel wells have been professionally repaired with stock metal, but with no guarantee that it wouldn’t return. Some paint bubbling has surfaced on passenger-side.
Inner C-Channel of Rear Frame (Common)
Front Doors on inner front panel (has been painted with rust stop and appears to have ceased)
Bottom of Driver-side front fender
Pitting and surface rust on front Valence

Dings:

Passenger-side has a couple larger-than-scratch sized dings and paint scraps mostly isolated to passenger-side rear door
Hood is oxidizing and worn down to primer in a couple spots but still takes wax well
Rear Passenger-side corner of roof/gutter is dented slightly
ARB Front Bumper Inner cross-member is bent (Tow Strap/Mechanical Advantage mishap)
Sliders made contact with rocker panels and dented (Previous Owner)

Initial Post part6

General:

Passenger-side Front window rolls up hard
Passenger-side seat is slightly loose as it relates to mounting on seat rack
(This is not a solvable/tightening issue but slider channel fatigue)
Slight rocker noise (Common)
Slight amount of slop in rear driveshaft (Either Locker based or output shaft. I believe this issue to be small and not in need of immediate attention but just being honest)
Windshield will need replacement but seal is not original and still seemingly very pliable
Not impressed with 5150’s up front, they have lost some of their oil, it appears.
Sometimes is hard to get out of 4WD but also common IMO
Hood prop bar needs new bushing
Carb Cooler Fan is removed (inoperable and IMO uneeded when smog equip is gone
High Altitude Compensator is deleted and timing adjusted to 6000ft
As a desmogged truck, it starts a little harder in the cold but Choke operates perfectly
OEM Power Steering begins to fail (not assist) after pointing these 35’s on the trail for awhile, could use cooler or Saginaw Pump switch.

As is the case with all 2F’s w/ Big tires, it is underpowered on the Passes but will hold 3K RPM in Third most of the time. In fact, it runs quite well and is very peppy for its gearing (4.11’s)

inner door rust (same on both sides

This is a Solid FJ60, It has many desirable and some rare mods, It has been mindfully cared for and it is 27 years old. It has low miles for that age. Most of the parts that would fail due to age have been replaced. Previous owner was Ige Gustavsen (sp? Ige?) Nuclearlemon on Mud. She did a lot and I did a lot too. It is desmogged and currently is running collector plates from Colorado. It will NOT qualify for Collector plates upon switching owners in Colorado. The law has changed and now carries a requirement of being built on or before 1976 as opposed to the old rule of simply being 25 years old or older. Please check with your state’s and counties laws regarding emissions exemption/testing prior to making me any offers. I can not transfer current collector plates.

Okay, now to what I want out of all this…

Outright Asking Price: $9500.00 USD -SOLD-
Or…
What I would rather do is trade her for a 95-97 FJ80 or LX450 with lockers that is generally stock to slightly modded and honestly valued at $4000-$5500 in addition to the difference from $9500, in cash. This will provide me the liquidity to cover the rest of my wedding and leave me with a Cruiser that I can then build up at my convenience. The least I can accept in cash in addition to the trade value is $3K.

I will consider ALL viable/honest offers that are similar/close to this stated/desired arrangement but don’t lowball me and don’t waste the time of all involved. No Dreamers or Tirekickers please. Furthermore, no dealers or financing offers, I would rather trade a Mudder’s rig for a Mudder’s rig. If you are paying cash, than none of that applies.

This truck is sold/traded AS IS. Anyone taking the time to inspect the truck will see I have been very forthright in its depiction.

One Current note: I over-torqued the first Remflex I/E gasket, that or the flange bolts backed out but I have a wicked intake leak (Whistles) and I have a fresh Remflex gasket to replace with correct torque specs and fresh bolts with Blue Threadlock. That and double-check the brand new Carb Insulator Plate. The flanges for Intake and Exhaust are very close to level to the eye and the Remflex absorbs up to a 1/16th in warpage, which it is well below. It WILL be resolved to the approval of any potential buyer. (will not leak)...THIS IS NOW FIXED AND IT RUNS BETTER THAN A 2F SHOULD BE ALLOWED TO! now posting pics at the end of the thread

that is pretty much out of my price range, but man that is one hell of a 60. i can't think of anything i would change. gorgeous. simply amazing.

this looks more like a bad ass build thread than a for sale add. :)

too bad you don't want to trade for a rock buggy. it is toyota base. 22re motor and a fj 40 bezel anyway.

bump from top to the top. good luck on the sale. if i become aware of 10k of liquid assets sometime this week i will let you know.

if i was in a position to buy this i would, beautiful 60 at a very fair price. good luck with the sale!

Absolutely stunning 60! I have a 1997 80 with FR/RR lockers and perfect cloth interior, stock I was looking to sell and/or trade hmmmm I will PM you

Tastefully modified and well cared for.

I can vouch for this great 60, you won't be dissapointed ! Bummer to see you sell it JT, and congrats to you and your fiance'.

First of all, CONGRATS ON THE WEDDING!!.

Second, don't sell it..Noooooo! Okay maybe for the great cause.

Great truck, and a great couple!

Good luck with the sale.

Congrats

Congrats on the wedding.

My wife and I were looking at getting a newer 4 runner but I still have the cruiser bug. My wife just saw this as I was poking around the forum and she really likes it. I regret selling my last cruiser and so I might be swayed into this. Let me talk to her and I might be able to send and offer your way.

Wow. Beautiful rig.

I'm normally not one to give personal advise on da web and you didn't ask for it, but here it goes. Keep the rig and grab your pretty lady and drive somewhere beautiful and have a nice simple wedding. I know everyone's got dreams about the wedding day and such. But you will regret selling that rig. Seems like she's into the wheelin' thing like you. So why get rid of something that you both enjoy now. Unless you're really changing your lifestyle and don't think you want the rig. Now if you guys need to pay the regular day to day bills and such, I can understand. Toys gotta go first. But for the wedding, all you need is you, her, and a preacher. Everything else is fluff.

Be sure you want to sell it, because I can't see that bad boy staying on the market long. That's my 2 centavos, hombre. Take it or use to buy a couple of gumballs.

Congrats on the engagement.

A couple reasons I'm selling/trading:

We are barely making ends meet...
We are already on final approach on all of this (3 months and change away)
We thought we were going to be able to put more away against what it would take
I love her and having a special day go off without a hitch is worth it. (well, ONE hitch...getting hitched, that is)
I have rotator cuff damage (rather severe) that would benefit from an Automatic

But I know where you are coming from...;)

No explanation necessary. But I'm glad you got your head wrapped around it.

Anyways, I would have jumped on it before I had bought my LX if it hadn't been for the de-smog stuff. Do you still have all of parts for it (excuse the question if you posted it already and I missed it)? California buyers would want to know.
