@gromaudio
If I purchase now ( SKU: LEX4VL2 ) it will have all latest updates and hardware right?
I've been watching your product already almost a year now, latest threads sound promising that I will get flawless experience.
Thank you for your interest! Yes, the system will have all the latest updates and hardware, correct. The new video cable VTOYA that now comes with the LEX4VL2 model will also allow you to retain the factory microphone so you can use it with CarPlay and Android Auto.

Has anyone else mounted the Grom mic inside the factory mic location in the overhead console?

I don't have a VLINE or VLITE in my truck, but rather a BT3. I ended up installing their microphone retention kit so I wouldn't have to add in the GROM Mic anywhere.

It helped having the EWD for my truck handy, but their tech support is excellent and responsive as I was doing this as more of an "unsupported" addition with the BT3 module.

I can report that it works, but I do need to tweak the gain on the mic, which is a simple config file change.

I have and no one can hear me very well on the phone, so I need to find a new place for it.
Also, ensure you check and adjust the microphone gain. Tap on the sandwich menu in the upper left corner while in the VLine UI screen. Go to Microphone Gain and change it to about 65. Let us know if that will help.

Is there any way to get pre-amp output or digital output from the GROM unit and use our own DAC?
Yes any USB DAC should be compatible. Simply connect to USB A port and it will be used as an audio sink for all VLine audio.

Some of the frequently asked questions are:

1. What is the difference between GROM VLine VL2 and VLite VT2?
The GROM VLine VL2 offers wireless CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as a stand-alone Android interface that you can use to download almost any app from the Google Play store to use in your car. The GROM VLite VT2 system is for wireless CarPlay and Android Auto only. Check the compare table that explores the differences between the VLine VL2 and VLite VT2 systems here: Compare VLine VL2 and VLite VT2 products - https://gromaudio.com/vl_compare.html

2. Can I install the system myself?
Yes, you can install the system if you have some technical ability. You will need to disassemble the portion of the dashboard to connect the system to the back of the stereo and display and install the microphone and GPS antenna. We have plenty of install videos on our website: Installs and video tutorials - https://gromaudio.com/installs/index.html
Otherwise, the local car stereo shop in your area should be able to help you with the installation.

The GROM VLine VL2 / VLite VT2 systems come with 30 days return for the refund period and 18-month warranty.

This week's glitch: At startup, the system doesn't connect, it tries, then crashes, restarts, tries to connect - doesn't, then crashes, restarts, tries to connect - doesn't, then crashes, restarts, tries to connect - doesn't, then crashes, restarts, tries to connect - doesn't...

Yeah, it just does this until I get where I'm going and shut the power off. Not annoying at all.

On the plus side, the endless loop made it easy to shoot a video at a red light.

Is this true for the microphone that comes with the VL2? When I call people they always report trouble hearing me. I have the mic that came with the system installed near the factory one. Thinking about switching to the factory with this retention kit.

Yes, the microphone gain adjustment applies to the aftermarket microphones as well. For the aftermarket microphone, the optimal gain setting is 65, and for the factory mic it is 45. You can also try to move the setting around a little bit to your liking, but from our tests and experimenting, 65 works best for the factory mic and 45 for the aftermarket mic.

Seems there is a problem with the wireless CarPlay connection. Here is how to reset it:
