Ever seen a carb'ed FZJ-80? This is one of the first ones I've ever seen also, up close. It's a 1997 FZJ-80 with a 1FZ-F 4.5L non-EFI gasoline engine mated to a 5-speed H151F stick shift; 15-inch wheels on a full-floater rear axle; with disc brakes on front but drum brakes on the rear. It has seatbelts for 5+1 people (one small person has to seat with the transmission lever between the legs) but can seat a total of 10... with the rear-most passengers going in/out through the ambulance doors. Note that it has no fender flares, which is a good thing, but the previous owner seemed to have tried "improving" the look by painting the fender on and side mouldings too. Yuck. As an extra bonus, it has dual fuel tanks! It has a "United Nations, New York" on the rearmost door glass.

The only weird thing about it is the layout of the dashboard and the absence of a tachometer --it's a very rare look. I wonder how the fuel economy is on this workhorse? I'd love to hear more about it if you have more trivia you can share about this model.

You can find it in the top-left gallery of http://www.pbase.com/drexx/hardware . Enjoy!

That is the LX Model, or Standard model. If you look at the driver’s and passenger’s doors, it even seems like it had manual windows and were chance to electric. The controls for the air conditioning are different, all manual nothing electric on them, more like the ones on the 60 and 70 series!

In regards to gas mileage; I have a carbureted 80 (VX, just like the one here, but no leather) with the H151F and gas mileage sucks. When it was stock I could get about 350 Km at of a fuel tank, while on my EFI with a manual tranny as well and I can get about 400-440 Km at of a fuel tank, depending on how I drive it! Either way I still like the carbureted one better 

So is it a Venz spec 80? those are the only ones I know of with a carbed 4.5ltr

Cool. Thanks for the pics.

That's interesting that you say you like the carborated version more than the EFI. WHy is that?

Would those headlights fit onto a US spec cruiser? I'm seeing visions of E code 5X7 housings with 100 watts.

If they do fit, does anyone know where to source a pair?

In the link, it states this truck is for sale. Where is it located and how much is the asking price? Thanks.

Oopps. Sorry 'bout that. That FZJ-80 is in Manila, Philippines and the car salesman is asking about US$14,000 for it. Which I think is too much.

Plant A11 is what I recall all my(mosre recent) Cruisers have stamped on them, not sure if that relates to the motor or the body or both or what?

I believe that "A11" refers to the plant where the 'Cruiser was fully-assembled... Araco. I haven't seen any 'Cruiser that doesn't refer to A11.

I wonder if the front disk brakes of a US-spec FZJ-80 would be a good conversion for the rear brake drums? And for the front disc upgrades too? I think it'll fit just nicely :D

That is a third world spec 80 series. I've seen one before with the 15" wheels and carb motor. It was a 10 seater and has a snorkle on it. The carb was designed for easy field service and cleaning after encountering bad fuel. Fuel Injection doesn't fare well to gas that has been sitting in the metal drum for a while.

Is not Venezuelan spec! Or at least it does not come from Venezuela if you look at the plate where the frame number is on the lower right it should say “Toyota de Venezuela”

Ale, you prefer the carb, but does that include when you're stalling out on Pinion Twist? :D

I have no ECU or anything of the kind to worry about. No error codes, non of that BS so if stalling every once in a while is what it takes, thats okay with me! :-)

thats was my point, the VIN is all japanese content.

Odd, no air bags, no underhood insulation(even a fj60 had this) dash itself looks odd, really odd PW's but no power locks

not even headrests on the 2nd row seats.....

I understood(or thought I did), Venz was the only country with a carbed 1FZ.

Bet it came from Gilbalter...........makes sense with the UN marking....;)

and Drexx.....need to hold the camera a "bit" steadier :D

Oh and that HJ61 is real low spec also isnt it?

whats the story with the 67-8 45LPB? must have been swap to a B at some point. VERY interesting tailgate, unlike any I have seen! the bed itself is normal, as the rest of it(cept the turn signals)

I LOVE this pic......:D
