carb needle valve seat removal

I cannot get either of the carb needle valve seats out of these carbs. I do not have the SST. I tried a big fat screw driver... no luck. You can see that the filter screen in there is dirty. I'd like to clean that sucker. I've shot PB Blaster in there letting it sit for days.. still no luck. Do you need the SST to remove this..

second question. The pin that the float swings on. Is that supposed to be loose or very tight. One pin slides in and out easy the other (the one still in there) has to be hit with a hammer to make it move.

well.. I hate doing stuff like this, but I used small lock pliers to crack them loose. Holy Sh!t those filers were dirty.:eek: I couldn't image how the one with fine dust could flow correctly. That is probably why the screen is busted. The other one had sand like in a faucet screen.

did you see the float pin question.. are those supposed to be hard or easy to remove?
