I got a THC carb bout six months ago ....bolted it up didnt have to turn any screw or adjust anything it runs great .
But a couple weeks ago i had some trouble with flooding....when i would go to crank it for the first time of the day , it would flood and cut off ...i looked at view glass and its totally full, and i would have some gas seeping out all around the base of the carb .
i could keep it running if i would accelerate a bit and hold it constant, So i got a friend to keep it running and i tapped on the side of the carb ....it began to run fine the gas level went to halfway of the view glass and it stopped puffing black smoke from the tailpipe!
so i tightened all the bolts holding the carb down (they weren't very loose) and took the air cleaner off ...i poured some seafoam in the top of the carb put the air cleaner back on and let it sit over night .....The next day it cranked right up it was smoking white smoke like ****...but thats what seafoam does!
The gas level was half way and it ran fine no more problems.....so today when i get ready to start it i smelled gas so.... i looked at the carb view glass is full again and i have a little gas around the base of the carb , I checked bolts they are all still tight..
So i started it it cranked right up it did puff a tiny bit of black smoke at first but then it ran great i let it idle and watched the view glass it stayed at half way and the gas around the base of the carb slowly evaporated ....im pretty sure this is a float problem possibly caused by all the ****ty gas we get now ...i just wanted some of your input before i did anything .....
I have some pics of the carb and the gas around it i took this morning before i cranked it .....but my computer sux and i cant add them to this post but i will leave you a link to my skydrive photo album that includes the pictures if you want to check it out
