I have a spare aisin carb from a later FJ40 (maybe 1982 or so). Would I be able to rebuild the aisin one and replace the Rochester carb? I am worried about whether it is possible to put a newer carb on the older truck. I am worried about if the linkages and “gadgets” will connect to my rig correctly.

I also need to identify the carb and get the right rebuild kit. The part number is something like 21100-61936. The last 5 digits may be different though as I can’t tell if it is a 9 and the last 6.

Here are some pics:

Thanks,
Rob

There is a date code stamped on the front side of the top cover. It looks like a '75.

The date code is 5 C 17 which I assume is March 17, 1975. I am guessing it is 1975 as Pin_Head mentioned it looked like a '75. I assume I can just rebuild and put it on my 1976 rig, correct? It looks like there are electrical connections, but I don't know where they would go to.

Yes, it will work on a '76. I have a '75 carb on my '76 and except for the auxilliary accelerator pump, they are pretty much the same. You don't need to run the AAP. The sensor in the base is for emission control. The electrical connection to the top cover is the fuel cut off solenoid. It gets power from a Black wire with yellow stripe that should be in the vicinity.
