I have 2 vehicles wrapped in 3M products. I'd not want to take either of them down any tight trails. I don't know the product vs 1080, but it wouldn't stand up to much abuse. Paint is far more durable. If it were economical enough I'd consider it for protection from mild stuff, but I've been down trails that would trash it in a day.
My experience is that it'll show any imperfections in the vehicle finish it's going over.
Before posting I googled 1080... first site would put costs around $300 for the material to wrap a 40. So if you were doing light trails, not the tight ones we have, it wouldn't be bad. It would be a cheap way to change color that could be repaired if you did scratch it. It does fade some over time though.
Since 40s have a lot of seams you should be able to hide vinyl seams.
