The engine is back together after the HG repair and it is smoking again. To make matters worse I just checked the oil and it is milky again too:frown::frown::frown. Could there have been enough water in the oil that was left in the cracks to make the oil milky and make it smoke? I think I am going to loose my mind if I have to remove the head and go through this whole thing again. I was very very careful when I torqued the head bolts to FSM spec. What else could this be? What else do I need to check before I tear into it again.
Thanks again,
Paul

How did you determine your original issue was the HG (as opposed to a cracked head)? You may also want to change the oil again since there certainly would have been some contaminated oil left over.

You may also do search about headgaskets. I may be way off, but I seem to recall there being an issue with some headgaskets blocking the wrong passages. Unfortunately, it sounds like one way or another that head will likely be coming off again. Good luck.

yeah it actually ended up being a cracked head. I am hoping that the oil is milky because of the left over coolant in the engine. I checked and double checked before putting the gasket on that it was on the correct way. I will change the oil tomorrow to see if that helps.
Thanks,
Paul

It could be a cracked block.

Bummer!

This morning I changed the oil and ran the engine again. There is a very slight amount of smoke coming out but much less than before. I ran it for about 20 minutes and the oil is still clear. There is however still a slight miss. Could this be timing or valves? Now I am chasing down what I think might be a short somewhere. It started for me first thing this morning then after I ran it she wouldnt even turn over. Then after a few minutes it would start again. Anyway, I will be chasing bugs for a while Im sure of it.
Thanks for the help,
Paul

If it would not crank it means you may have filled a cylinder with water (went hydraulic). As the water leaked passed the rings you were able to start it again. It sounds like a HG or a cracked head. I KNOW you just changed it but........
It may be the block like I said before but that is fairly uncommon. I would let it run till its warm then pull the spark plugs and have someone crank it (or use a remote starter) and see if water shoots out the spark plug holes (I bet it will) and then you will know which cyl. is the problem.
