I like the lock and roll couplers. If I was building from scratch I think that is what I would use. But I am not sure if it is worth the trouble when the trailers already come with a pintle. I think I would wait to see how well the pintle works before I think about replacing it.

A few different pirces of the LockNRoll hitch ( very pricey)

16000 lb Lock-n-Roll Articulating Hitch and coupler. allows for right to left and up and down atriculation, plus 360 degrees of rotation

$359.00

and on another page on the same site:

$559.00

I emailed them to get a quote

I saw these a couple years back and prefer them over the Lock and Roll. I can build these for less than $100 each with Poly blocks and even less with all steel construction.

I believe they are priced around $250

Are you going to draw this up before or after the trailer drawings? :flipoff2:

Actually I already have a drawing for this. :flipoff2: With a material list.

I drew it up back before I had considered a custom trailer. If I could come up with a good tailgate and hinge design I could have the Trailer Dwgs done also. I just haven't come up with a solid design for a hinge that gets the gate out of the way for sliding the cargo out the back.

Nice! We may have to work something out :D

the lock n roll is rhino approved DD :D

the tregg is pretty good, its got more movement than a ball, but not as much as a pintle. i have read on a few ozzie sites that the tregg binds up on itself. however i would do the ORAC style after the lock n roll, heck maybe i like the orac just as much. where the bolt is you simply bolt it to a standard drop reciever where a ball would be.

mine works fine, i just drop the gate all the way down and its a flat serface all the way out.

i originally was going to hinge the tailgate on the side, like a door.

Got a pic?

Also, I'm not seeing the side to side movement in the ORAC design.

its where the bolt is, you cant really see it but there is a washer. nylon or whatever. you bolt it to a regular reciever where the ball would normally bolt on. it has a neat lock washer so you just snug it up, its alot like a little tiny 5th wheel.
