Anyone done this? Looks like if you go with a similar year all you have to do is change out the airbag that has the T on it?

I have swaped steering wheels on BMW's and it is pretty easy.

Lots of people do this in Japan. The spend thousands of $$$ on scrapping all the toyota emblems and buy lexus ones, even down to the emblem on the V-bank cover. Ironically, they can't buy the lexus SUV's there, but can buy the emblems, airbags, door scuff plates, floor mats, lights, etc.

that's really funny. i just read a lengthy article about how lexus sales were extemely disappointing in japan... but that was really about ls sales, i guess.

Thanks but I am talking about using a Lexus steeering wheel with my Toyota airbag & emblem. I like the thicker steering wheel of the Lexus.

It would probably work. Usually an airbag element is an airbag element, and I don't know why Toyota would use a diffrent one for these two essentially identical vehicles. But you will need to remove the airbag as well to get the steering wheel off. I've done this to a few Mercedes steering wheels and it is pretty easy, but you have to be careful. Just be sure you disconnect the battery and the airbag itself before you attempt to unbolt it. FSM, as always, would be your best bet (though for liability Toyota may not put this procedure in there...?).

How to disconnect/remove the airbags is in the FSM, both steering wheel and side/curtain bags. They even tell you how to set the bag down on the table (emblem side goes up, not down). The difference in the LX and LC bags is in the emblem (and, I guess, color to match the interior).

Well I called the dealer and got $900-2000 quote for a Lexus steering wheel (with no airbag). Yes they are smoking Crack:censor:
A BMW M sport steering new can be had for under $400:o
I told the dealer they have surpassed the Germens in pricing.
Off my soap box! I will snoop around wrecking yards and e-bay.
