Can We Still Be Friends?

I have an '09 Access cab and fit 285's with 4 1/2" back space. But its also got 3" lift and Camburg UCA's. I still rub a little on the front cab mounts and back of the front fender flares. Flares are eventually self trimming :). The UCAs move the wheel just a bit forward and you can ask your alignment guy to bump your caster to 2.6 - 2.8 for a bit more forward movement. '05+ Tacos really benefit from after market UCAs, even the ball joint ones. They seem to solve a lot of rubbing issues.

Yes, we can be friends.

Good info, thanks!

Well at least with the 100 series you will need at least a few 80 series rigs to get you out of jams.

That's why Spressomon always wheels with 80 series rigs...we're the support team.

Fair enough.

Boy, that thing sure is a nice highway ride.
Except for the navigation system. I hate any technology that I have to sit down and read the manual before I can use it comfortably.

In all honesty I am looking at the 100 series as my next LC. But ill be doing some things differently:

1. Manual Aisin hubs
2. Part time xfer case
3. Full floater rear
4. ARB lockers
5. De-electrifying everything....it can be done.

I'm. Convinced the 100 series is the last LC that will be DIY

No solid front end?

Easier to import a 105 or transplant a 4.7 into your 80?

Solid front end will not be necessary for the purposes of this rig. The 80 fulfills all of my needs for a vehicle like that.

The 100 will be the Death Valley/Southern Utah expedition vehicle. :)

Transplanting a 4.7 into an 80 would run well north of $15K (Christo quoted me that for a turn-key, drop the truck off, pick it up in 3 months deal). For that price I can get a 1998-2000 100 series (still manual enough to s*** can the electronics) with a rear locker, upgrade the front 2 pinion design to a 4 pinion ARB, etc. for less than $15K.

Importing a 105 series is cost prohibitive and finding one in good shape with decent miles is going to be almost impossible without dropping $30-50K.

Fifteen minutes later the running boards were removed....
Headed to Slee tomorrow with an empty trailer.

Good grief.
Everyone needs a girl friend like mine.

Very nice.

Same reasons I went with the same range of years. The newer models have nav/radio/heater all integrated and it's no easy task to separate them. I haven't actually seen anyone accomplish it yet. I wanted my climate and radio controls separate and didn't care about NAV. No traction control. No VSC. No AHC. Straight forward electric rear locker. After you blow the 2-pinion front diff, install a 4-pinion ARB in it. I paid $14K for mine 2 years ago and it only had 92K miles on it.

Sweet. Very Sweet. Nice truck too.

If you're headed to Slee to buy bumpers for the 100, what are your plans for the OEM bumpers?

Throw 'em in the trash.
Want then? They're in near perfect condition as are the running boards.

Boy, I feel the same way about that integrated touch screen, Marc. I don't like it.
I do like the 275 HP and that gated five speed.

So, we just got back from a long day in Golden. We should get a certificate in 100 series 101.

I'll start a new thread tomorrow if anyone is interested and let you know what we learned.

I wouldn't mind having a spare set since odds are very slim that I'll ever buy anything beefy. Getting them from Salida to Albuquerque is the challenging part.

Not really.... The tricky part is WHEN will I be driving south with an empty pickup bed...

Dan

Well, if Fish is willing to store them until such time that you're driving down here with an empty bed and you're willing to bring them, that would be great.

I'd be interested...

Congrats - that's a nice looking truck!
