I've bought and sold on this board and the toughest part is sorting through parts that aren't for my vehicle. Maybe a quick filter to start/gauge usage?

The word cloud isn't helpful, imo, because it only works if the specific phrase is used.

Like if you agree/would like 'Mud to prioritize this. Comment if you have a comment.

X2...I have alerts set up and hate getting my inbox filled up with notifications that have nothing to do with the vehicle or parts that I'm looking for.

I think @woody has already talked about this in another thread.

Cluttered classifieds

Although I would like to see some kind of different structure to the classifieds. It gets to be a pain in the ass browsing through all the different sections.

Great idea!

....and not a new one...there is NO classifieds plugin that works....none....I've looked. I've invested. I'm sick of losing money on failed attempts. Sick of disappearing developers.

A GOOD system will cost tens of thousands to be done right.

By the way, this MAY go public soon (post-testing and feedback)....could be a short-term solution for searching...

My search Kung-Fu has never been the same since the switch to Xenforo from vBulletin. This looks quite good after a little bit of playing around.

I knew I couldn't be the only one! Haha

There are classifieds sections though, suspension, armor, etc.

Could those designations be used for vehicles?

If it was all the correct vehicle, we may not need to separate by vehicle sections.

Maybe a user poll to see if that holds water?

Lumpers vs. splitters.... No single organizational scheme is going to make everyone happy. If parts were broken down by series of cruiser, I would have more damn sections to click through.

Lots of us have more than one cruiser of more than one series, and/or vehicles with a varied mix of parts in them, and do a lot of window shopping through classifieds rather than searching for something specific. (For example I'm currently working on a 55 with 40, 60, 62 and 80 parts in it).

The only way I could see further splitting the classifieds would work is if it was done with filtering / organizing options that each user can set up to their preference. Which leads to this:

Then you'd have the cat-herding moderation work to make sure people posting in classifieds selected all the proper info so the threads can be sorted.... and we all know how well that'll go (the repeated saga of petitions to mandate a location in the title...) :p

15 years of forum management....guaranteed I've looked into options a hundred times, and researched for hours and hours.

There is NO perfect system. None. What exists is the compromise I've chosen.

I had another idea on this! Is there a way to follow a specific search? On eBay, it'll give you an option to follow a search and receive a notification when a new record matching that search is created. That would be one way to specify a criteria without having to break everyone's workflow.

Also, if this feedback is welcomed, great. If not, let me know. I've got an eye for improvement and I know my priorities may not match those of the admins.
