Dinghy towing 4 down

Has anyone discovered if the FJCruiser can be towed four down? The 6 speed is listed as AWD. Does that mean it has a center diff? Can I drag this thing behind a Motorhome?

you can't... since they made this a new topic instead of a response I'll elaborate.. now you can't.. well I guess you can but the car has to be on.

No, you cannot tow an FJ. It's not AWD either, it's Full Time 4wd. I suggest you get a trailer and tow it on top of that.

I saw one being towed. When I talked to the owner, he said he had a driveshaft disconnect. He says it is safe to tow then.

It had to be an automatic then.

I'm sure there is probably a way you can tow it. For instance, the 80 series isn't supposed to be flat towed, but I can't really think of a reason why...

Read your owners manual in the towing section.

It is explained there.

NO, you can't ......unless you like repair bills.

Why, though? There is no apparent reason, other than the Toyota doing some CYA, at least with the 80.

I would think that if you pulled the driveshafts you would be ok. Explain my wrong thinking. Im confused. :(

If you have an auto FJ, (NON-full time 4WD) and you get a rear driveshaft disconnect, you will be fine.

The ADD up front is disconnected, and if you have the disconnect, only your rear diff is spinning, but your tranny (the problem) is not spinning.
