I'm fixin' to rebuild my rear axle and need the sst for the rear bearings. I'll pay for the ride and promise to return. Please.

OK, true newbie question... I've not done axels yet, but its on the list.

What is an SST?

It's an easy tool to make. Start with a very large socket, about the same size as the lock ring, and grind 3 slots in the rim to accomodate the 3 protrusions on the lock ring. Now you have a tool you can use with a socket wrench and torque wrench.

Pm me, I just bought one, but haven't used it yet, cooling system issues have taken priority.

Thanks!

Just so you guys know, the 4wheel drive socket for Dana 60/70 axle nuts will work. You can either buy it or use it as a loaner from AutoZone(my choice).

Good info, thanks. I'll give autozone a shot.

Thanks for the info in the SST tool substitute. A couple of weeks ago I was going to repack the rear wheel bearings, after reading that I needed the SST to set the preload I stopped. BTW, I love full floating axles! Much easier to work on than my mini truck axle! I want to swap a rear 80 axle for my rear mini axle.:)

Alex, if you still need it, I've got one.

Thanks Ary. As of yesterday, the rear axle may be on hold until i can figure out and fix my front axle issue.
