I just finished filling up my 1969 (8/68) FJ40 gas tank and adding Sta-bil for seasonal storage when I noticed small amount of fuel is leaking from the top of my original Kyosan Denki fuel pump. Does anyone know a way to avoid having to drain the gas tank before I work on the fuel pump? All fuel lines are original. I am not aware of a shut-off valve between the tank and the fuel filter. Any suggestions or short-cuts are appreciated!

If you clamp the rubber line to the fuel pump, only minimal fuel should drain out when you disconnect it. You’ll also have the fuel that is in the line going from pump to carb.

take the line off and raise it straight up along the firewall, if dripping but a bolt in it and use the clamp
or if the rubber line is pliable, pinch off pliers work well

Work fast and don't smoke.

Thank you very much!
PRI-G is a better fuel additive. Hemostats are a nice fuel hose clamp

Good morning Your @3_puppies Excellently 🦄 ☀️

How come I have never had an issue or situation with Petrol flowing out of any supply line or return line while replacing a 1962 - 9/87 ……..40 , 55 or 60 series …

nor other mechanical fuel pump equipped Toyota cars and pickups …….?

I would put a conservative # of OEM KYOSAN’s I have shot-put’d into a shop trash devise in the 40–50ish range-ish …

Please explain in detail how & wag his truck does this ?

Thanks Paul ….
