Found a few threads of people putting 100-series bumpers on their 80-series. So surely it could go the reverse direction as well?

Reason being, it's easier/cheaper to find used 80-series offroad bumpers than it is for 100-series.

Can I adapt an 80-series front bumper for my '99 100 series?

Would love some input to confirm/deny. Let's set it in stone.

Thanks!

Only a matter of time before that dude head bangs a little too close to something spinning at high RPM.

Not saying it's impossible, but it won't be plug and play. The frame horns on an 80 series stick out more than a 100, and there are captured nuts on top, sides and bottom from which an aftermarket bumper would bolt to.

On the 100 series the frame horn is pretty short, so most bumper manufactures bolt their winch trays using a combination of using the existing captured nuts at the bottom, and having the end user drill through the frame horns to use a large washer, long bolt and nut to attach the bumper.

Obviously with enough time and fab skills you can accomplish anything.
