Can a mid-late 70's ignition work with an electronic distributor?

My electronic ignition died. I have another ignition that has two green plugs and the ballast instead of my 79 smaller black box.

So, like the title says..can I use a mid-late 70's ignitor with my 79 distributor? Couldnt find any info after searching.

No. '79 is "fully electronic", so you need a '78 and up ignitor.

You might check with some aftermarker ignition companys (i.e. Mallory, MSD, Jacobs) to see how compatible there electronics units are with your Distributor's pickup coil. I think they use some type of filter????? when combining their electronics with your stock electronics.
