Thanks Burt...
Another recommendation would be Brier field.
Good group camping and facilities.. Just not as many things to do.

Either works for me. Also we could always do Oak Mountain though there isn't much to do there either.

Let's settle on a date then pick the spot..
There are several options that will work for us..

Just looked at the Brierfield Lodge. Sleeps 16. Could be a good time come winter for a group weekend.

So October or November?

Why not both months?! Heck... just get out there! even if it's one or two of us.
I prefer to camp at offroad parks, that way there's more to do than watch each other cook eggs... but whatever grows the group! Yeah!

Even if growing the group means inviting jeep people? :-p

I'm up for most anything. November is more open for me though...

Everyone is going to the ACC fall event the first weekend in November right? They did that for my birthday (oct 30)

War Eagle Cruisers brought a jeep (and we call him JonJeeps) to the Southern Cruiser Crawl with us one year! Of course, he eventually bought a toyota mini-truck... but he still has the big ole jeep, it always broken! But thems was jokes! I love errybody!

I know jokes when I see them... Remember im sitting at an auction during a rover event right now...

I'm excited about camping. Matt sent me a good looking lake. It has fall camping trip written all over it. I just need to figure out how to strap a canoe to the RTT.

Okay then sometime in October and we'll look at the November.

Bringing this back up...
I really like cold weather camping but some might not be as willing as i am.
This needs to get done.

I too like cold weather camping. My definition of cold is low 30's to mid 40's. I probably wouldn't mind colder if I had a better bag.

Definitely interested in doing this. Good bump, pres.

if weight isnt an issue I love my mil surplus down bag
I back back with a eureka bag it was back packer bag of the year a few years ago. 15* bag less than 100 bucks. and quality is way above coleman.
a good ground pad is a must when you are sleeping at or below freezing, I have a big agnes insulated ground pad, draw backs are the price and that it takes time and energy to blow up. but its supper cumfy.

I am a little bit of a gear geek, anyone can call/pm/email me if they want to talk camping supplies, and what I dont know Kait will.

When only the best will do..

You've got a lot more knowledge on it than I do. I've got a couple of bags that I thought were "nice," that were both whatever was on sale at Campmor at the time. I can't remember what brand either of them are. One is like a 40* mummy bag that I can't stand to sleep in, and the other one is a 20* rectangular bag that I got before I went to Moab last year. It was high 20's in Santa Fe Forest the night we camped up in Black Canyon and I was pretty dang cold. I think it was a ground layer issue though. Since then I've heard that having a good closed cell foam pad is good for like 15* of warmth, so I probably would have been comfy.

I need to get a tent at some point. In the past I've always just gone with friends that have tents. No need for it to be uber light / backpack type, I like to do more car based camping / wheeling kind of thing. I'd say a RTT but I don't want to swing the bucks on one just yet.

I got my tent off steepandcheap.com

It's a pretty cool site for camping stuff.

Theclymb.com is another good discount site. Not as discounted as steepandcheap but wider selection.

I have been keeping this as a bit of a secret.
I have access to some land about an hour from here.
It will provide some short rides and good camping.
No facilities in fact it will be the deep dark woods.
I would like to host a camp. If interested let's get some dates.

Interested.

Needs to be the majority of our group before I push it
