Cam tab gussets, this is bad, yeah? (1 Viewer)

My guy removed the lower A-arms completely to weld in just the TC gussets. Lot of extra labor costs, but I'd hate to toast a bushing.

We welded mine with the control arms in place. We alternated sides, and sprayed the bushings with water (not the welds).
Whiteline will have their bushings available soon, so I was not worried about degrading the OE bushing.

Big Mike at MC has a video and says you don’t have to remove anything. He recommends alternating from gusset to gusset doing one short bead at a time. Unfortunately for me, the mechanic at SSO insisted it couldn’t be done any other way. 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️ Thankfully I have the 3 year alignment deal at NTB. So it was just my time that was spent on that. 🙄
Wow - this is great - thanks for posting. I am about to swap out my LCAs and this would be a great time to add this kit. Quick question - does this kit interfere with the KDSS hardware?

Not at all. My installer did disconnect the KDSS system during the install even though he shouldn’t have had to.

Can you actually have a front end alignment s*** your front suspension forward a 1/4" or so to help with oversize tire rubbing?
My 35"s rub just a little bit on my front fenders and I don't want to lift my rig any higher nor cut any metal. I probably only need a 1/4" or so.
If you can, how much farther forward can you move the control arms and not compromise an alignment?

Yes. Well... Define "compromise". I gave up on the franchise alignment shops and hit up a Toyota specialty shop with an alignment machine. After I got the cam tab guessets and BMC, I told them I didn't care about camber so much as I wanted caster to be above spec by moving the arms forward. They did that and I'm sitting at over 5° of caster, and oodles of rear clearance. All for 89 bucks. With either SPC or OEM UCA'S I'd likely be sitting right at upper spec. Problem with fixed angle, aftermarket UCA's, is that they of necessity pull the tire backwards to increase caster, but that works against clearance. I'll post up my current alignment specs when I get home.

Bang bang. I am wondering why you or your welder did not fully weld the marlin crawler kit per the instructions? I see there is about an 1” on the flats along the top but the rest of the gusset is untouched.

So I installed the full set of Bud Built skids today. I saw what you were looking at in the picture @icanhithimman but it doesn’t look like it will be an issue. Pretty sure it’s welded up just fine. And the skids almost need to be notched at the plates But I’m gonna run it as is and keep an eye on it.
