Hey all. Does anyone have some insight. If I get 2 brand new cats (front and rear) sent to my friend in Nevada, will there be enough difference in emissions to fail smog even though the cats are brand new just technically not CA compliant?

On petrol vehicles 2000 and newer it’s just obd scan for emission codes/monitors/aftermarket tunes and visual. 99 and older they sniff. Any non factory equipment from intake to cat needs CARB label or you’re referred to state ref. In actual practice it’s 50/50 whether the tech cares but it has gotten a lot more serious with detecting tunes and the machines scan the techs palm to log in now.I'd expect it to depend on if CA does a sniff test at the tailpipe or just plugs into your OBDII port. If they do a visual check they look for the CARB EO number. Not sure if those are stamped on the Cats. It's been awhile since I have had access to complete lines of Cats. Curious why you can't pick up CARB EO legal cats?
