Ok Scott's pictures blow mine away. Easy to do.

Second, just remembered. Did anybody hear that Peggy Sue's, which was picked as the first sign in location after the lake bed was made off limits, tried to double the charge to event organizers like a week before? That is pretty lame to try and gouge a group of people who are coming out to clean up thier back yard.

We picked up a very nice couple in a mildly modded TJ along the way and showed them around on thier first time there. Good times.

Did this trail keep going or was this the dead end? Looks almost like a tunnel but it's probably an optical illusion.

The last time I was in Calico, about 5 years ago, I was in a slammed S-10 and doing show coverage of a mini truck show. I will have to make a point of getting out their for next years clean-up!

Hey Mo-

I'm bummed I didn't get to see you and Tare or Dave. Were you there for lunch?

Your pictures are great. I bought a new 18-200mm lens for the wifes Nikon and was trying it out. I usually use my little compact. Can't wait to see Braden's pics.

Our group did the clean up next to Peggy Sue's parking lot. What a pig sty, the truckers use it as tire and trash dump, we hauled tons of crap out of there. Had I known about the double charge move I would have had a word with the manager in there, I still might give them a call.

I hope next year they can somehow bring the whole organization back to one venue. The lake bed was a dust bowl but at least it had a group feel to it. :frown:

Sunday was such a great day. I had no idea that kind of beauty lied right on the other side of the mountain. The recent rains really changed the feel of the desert, it looked like the Na Pali coast in Kaui (well I'm exaggerating but it was really green ;)). In another two weeks the flowers will be blooming everywhere.

See ya soon.

Great pictures you guys!!!

Well I probably met a few of you guys and didn't even know it. I was working the sign up counter and handing out T-Shirts. Wish I would have had a chance to introduce myself.

It's true last years cleanup made a big difference. I visited the same area our group cleaned up last year and there was hardly any trash. Unfortunately there are still many areas that need help and next year I'm sure we will cover them. It feels pretty good seeing the fruits of our efforts.

Looks like next year is gonna focus on Stoddard Wells, maybe based out of the Slash X..............

The year before last Primedia did a cleanup at Stoddard. We picked up way more trash than we ever could have at Calico. I remember someone even bringing in a double wide frame!!! Good times!

Slash X rocks. Here's a shot of the last time we were there. New Years 2007.

Yeah the owner would really like the cleanup based out of there, and BLM too.....

That is at the begining of Doran after the gatekeeper. It does go through, there are some really cool narrow spots like that.

Talk about a 360, slammed mini to wheeling a Cruiser. Well done.

We didn't even get to make it for the lunch or shirts. Although we did make it to your camp a couple of times, just not when you were there.

I was using my new Cannon Digital rebel with just a little 18-55 lens but I like it alot. Someday I will get a bigger lens for it but mods for the Cruiser keep calling so I might have to spend my pennies there. :grinpimp:

I am not 100% sure if the info about Peggy Sue's is true but it sounds as if that is the case. Bummer if it is.

I have never been on the other side of the mountain either, bummed I didn't make it out there this time. Looks beautiful.

I heard the trash wasn't nearly as much as last year. Nobody even brought back cars or anything. I guess thats a good thing!

There was a lot of trash, you just had to look harder in other places. The bins where filling up when we dumped the 2nd time.

The side canyon we walked down at the back off Mule was filled with stuff, we spent hours cleaning up; Washing Machine, Man Hole Covers, Bag and Bags of rusty cans, spendt shells, ton o' glass, discarded junk .

On the backside off shoots behind the mt.by the power lines shown in the pics we found looks more: Mufflers, Rims, doors, stuff that had been out there for many, many years.

Brian

Wow, nice... I will have to get out there, and put in my time at the next Clean-Up.

Yeah, I wish I could have both. Never did get to the Air bags to drag A$$. But it was my first brand new vehicle and probably my last New & Chevy ever.

I can appreciate the work that goes into a truck to make it "lay frame" but I couldn't drive around having to worry about clearing speed bumps. Don't blame on skipping Chevys from here on out. :D
